Don't try to trip down a puzzle which benefits from being non-super-simplified. The 'Confusion' by Near is so perfect, that any change to it will just destroy the perfection.
Also, why don't you make something of your own? -_-
Intended solution I like new two steps.
If you fix the major shortcut (left and right side) by using a barrier like glass or block of wall, the main part of solution will become too obvious.
