Splendid Parrot Portraits by MrMasakari and Revolver77

Description
UPDATED FOR 3.1(finally):

So this is a mod from a Zoologist/Ornithologist who was a bit dissapointed with the lack of Parrots in the game, so as a parrot lover I decided to add some in.

What does this mod actually do?:

It adds Six completely new (and real) animated Parrot species into the game (Primarily Macaws), with a total of 24 different variations. The pre-existing parrot in the game has also had a bit of reworking; the goldfish bowl has been removed from the spacesuit, whilst adding a couple of extra colour variations aswell, bringing the total existing colour variations to 11.

Regardless of the update to the pre-existing parrot species, and the extra ones added in this mod, all are animated using pre-existing species as a template.

I made this as a very casual mod for myself, purely for fun, but thought I would share it, so if you enjoy it please let me know :)

Actual Parrot species ingame currently:
Blue and gold Macaw
Congo African Grey
Scarlett Macaw
Shamrock Macaw
Camelot Macaw
Hyacinth Macaw
Spix Macaw

Sun Conure

To be added:
Blue Throated Macaw

Possibly a Corvid portrait pack in the future

Known Issues
-Eye animations: Some of the eye animations are imperfect, they will be eventually fixed but it requires a lot of tweaking and fine tuning which will be fixed. Some colour issues onsome of the newer portraits, these will be ironed out at some point.
- Avian Ship/Building types being overwritten to Macaw, a mistake on my behalf that is NOT confrontational with other mods, it is just a harmless side effect which I will fix when I can.

V1.2 Update
We have decided to remove the some clothes variant portraits as we were not happy with how it translated into the game. The model we based this off was uniquely animated, in a way that makes it so that clothes cannot be enabled via the typical methods, it is one of only a few models that does not have clothes available. The way we got around this was to literally transplant the clothes onto the animated models, it worked for some, less so for others, causing stretching, clipping etc.

Thanks for raising this, i've amended it, I've also noticed the Sun conure which shouldnt have been released had duplicate portraits so ill update that whilst im at it. It'll be save game compatible however you might just need to reselect your portraits for any pre designed empires, otherwise it'll still pull through as macaw rather than avian

Small problem, i think you may have made it so that other avian portraits are classified as "Macaw" instead of avian.

Brilliant, I’m glad. It was an oversight on my half because these types of civics didn’t exist back when I initially made this. Just happy for others to enjoy. I’ll probably keep adding extra bits when I’m bored, added a sun conure in on the latest version accidentally. Thanks for popping by

This mod is perfect for my Treasure Planet^H^H^HHunter run :-) I actually had made a local mod to make the Macaws avian, so thank you for that update. In addition to certain civics, having them classified as avian also help with some trait mods that add species-specific traits like Magpies (pop growth increases as trade value increases)

@Dishiestglobe you'll be happy to know that not only have does this tweak seem to be save game compatible but you should now be able to use the Selective Kinship Civic, I'll look to publish it in about 30 minutes time.

I see, thanks for replying. I’ll have a look into it for you, no guarantee on timeline though as it will potential break existing save games for people. Will look at potentially having a separate version for you

Putting them would allow you to properly use the Selective Kinship Civic, which doesn't work properly with the current classification because there's only one species type that classified as "Macaw". That, and it would make more sense to classify them as Avaians in my opinion.

Hi there, apologies for not responding sooner. I chose to make it its own class initially to be a bit more mod compatible, as it’s a unique classification. With the new portrait scripting I could try and do this. The only thing I would ask out of naivety is what would this do for you/enable you to do? Will look into it potentially :)
