This mod adds a bunch of new features as well as two whole new factions matching the style of the originals. If you wish to fight them, but play as the original factions, that still works too, and all features added to the new factions have appropriate versions for the originals.

FACTIONS

The Whitehats were the first faction I created. They were my first attempt to create a faction way back before the workshop was created. I never posted it online due to its complete override of the base game files. I originally made it just for my friends and me to use. You'll probably notice their shaggier design and oddly named game files. I worked pretty hard to create them, and I'd like to think they came out pretty swell. They are supposed to resemble the current Japanese military, but you may notice that they use many weapons of German and American design. This is because they suck, and can't build cool and unique arms. Step it up, Japan.

The Blueshirts were my second attempt at a faction mod. I added them as a compliment to the Whitehats, using a more unique and regal design. You'll see them wearing very formal military attire. Their appearance is based on a mixture of the current French military and the French military during. WWI. They are equiped with mostly french and german weapons, as they are today.

ADDITIONS

While I believe the factions are enough to be a mod on their own, I added loads of additions to the base game and factions, for everyone to enjoy.

They include, but aren't limited to:
  • Secondary unsuppressed pistols for each faction, for recruits to use for 1 rp
  • Unsuppressed machine pistols for secondaries
  • Suppressed assualt rifles unlocked with the sniper rifles
  • Suppressed sniper rifles unlocked much later to add more unlocks in the late campaign
  • The cut-content anti-vehicle landmines
  • Three tiers of uniforms for each faction including: specialists, officers, and commandoes
  • Exoskeletons that vastly increase your speed without adding any protection
  • One beefy mac-10 with a suppressor as a secondary for high ranking playas

I found a bug, what do?

How do uniforms work
Think of them as vests, but they never break and don't do anything. They just paste a new skin on the wearer.

Why are all the vehicles just reused?
I'm no good with modeling 3d models. If you want to send me some models for the vehicles, I'll gladly add them and give you full credit!

Will there ever be more factions?
No, probably not. I feel as though five factions is more than enough.

Will you add more features?
Absolutely! As soon as I find some good ones, I will!

Did you make this alone?
No, my friends gave valuable input, and my friend Jack got all of the names for the new factions.

Why did you choose these factions, specifically?
The Whitehats were chosen when I enacted plebiscite within my friends group. We agreed that the most weaby of factions would be added. The Blueshirts were added because I learned a ton about just how badass the French were before WWI.

How come some weapons have odd/unoriginal appearances?
Texturing isn't my strong point, and I had to resort to chopping up original textures or completely reusing some of the rare weapon textures.

Hold up, you just GAVE them those over powered weapons?!
Dude, chill. All weapons, regardless of original texture owners, are separate items, with balanced stats.

I think I've seen some of these textures somewhere...
If they aren't from the base game they were from some free resources from some friendly guys on the RWR forums, or I used some off google. If these are yours, and you want them taken down, message me and I'll find a replacement.

Did you make the models yourself?
Yep. All custom troops and weapons were remade by me with the RWR Ogre model tool.

Why exoskeletons?
The STALKER series is awesome. I also thought I could do it better than Activision could.

What's the deal with airplane food?
If you want me to add certain additions you thought up, please post the suggestion here and if I like it, and it's doable, I'll add it!

Is this mod deadzo?
No, but I'm not really interested in RwR at the moment. Think of it as asleep, I'll update if I get into it or if it gets broken by an update.

the game crash when i go to campaign or quick play. Pls, resolve this, this mod have potencial!:steamthumbsup:

Managed to at least temporarily fix it. Every carry item in the files (sans the costumes i think) were missing </carry_item> brackets to close them.
Additionally, deleting the squad config files found in factions is needed, as they are an old system that doesn't seem to be implemented anymore.

I think that's everything I'll have to test it more to be sure.

Hello to all Running With Rifles fans! It is I! The Milkman! The silent co-author of this mod since its inception! I am going to break my long silence and just leave and update here for all passersby!

The mod is not dead, according to Ted, and he does hope to update it at some point! We thank everyone who has loved and supported the mod over the years and we are sorry if this hiatus has placed you in BummerCity.

If anyone really wants to get turbosalty please remember that Ted and I (almost entirely Ted) started this mod a little over 6 years ago when we were both still in High School and Ted has done his best to keep the mod alive and up to date over the years (ALL FREE OF CHARGE AND DRIVEN OUT OF A PASSION FOR THE GAME COMRADES) and we should all thank him for that! Thank you Ted!
