Honestly I think it was more to drive people towards the painfully oversized nuclear reactors for cheap energy. "Cheap" being a relative term here.

If the things were about 50% smaller I'd contemplate using them, but as it stands the current nuclear reactors are unwieldy b4st4rds.

@~-C6600d0★Tanya Sapien That's a shame. It was really cool that you could create different power grid designs, and they had their strengths and weaknesses. Sounds like they're moving toward homogeneity, which is easier to develop but more boring to play.

@Furiant not only do solar panels not work in warp, they got their power output heavily nerfed. Quite frankly I was pissed when I found out. Sure it came alongside a huge buff to hydrogen, but it basically made solar utterly useless for anything other than stations or life support backups.

yeah i was thinking a previous version probably allowed the solar panels to work while in warp, where the current version they do not. i'm trying a few varients will generators solely for warping

I haven't played in quite a while, but when I built this it was stable at higher warp speeds. With all my ships I made a point of having solid power grids. They may have changed how solar works, or other components. Sorry it's not working out for you.

nice ship, and i like the idea of a self sufficient solar powered ship, unfortunately with everything nonessential turned off (even the ships internal lights) and batteries/capacitors at full charge, this ship can't sustain warp 1 for more than a few seconds, and drops warp immediately if you mtry entering warp 2. Will need either a generator or tons more battery capacity to be warp viable

While I didn't mind the teleporters in the previous version, this one is much more asthetically pleasing
