Description
Welp, this is what I have been working on the last 4 months.
I present to you: “The Replicators” addon for GMod

Arachnophobe warning: Be aware that they can jump on your face and scare you soul out of your body

These are custom NPCs and I hope that one day that the main stargate group will consider adding this addon to be used with the rest of the fantastic stargate content!

FAQ:
Q:What map did you use in the screenshots?
A: gm_flatgrass_underground

Q:Where do I locate the NPCs in the Q-menu?
A:In the Entity tab in the “Stargate” section.

Q: What do the replicators use as a source for replicating?
A: Any prop with its default properties set to metal. The replicators will ignore anything non metal and will not consume other replicators.

Q: How to enable those paths from the video?
A: Those paths was only enabled for video purposes and cannot be enabled in current version of the addon.

The priority order in which the replicators will follow after first being spawned:
  1. After the placement of the first replicator it will seek out metal props on the map. It does not immediately hoan in on props and will establish a search pattern until locating the correct resource
  2. Once the replicator has found a source of metal it will latch onto it and begin to consume.
  3. Once he has consumed enough he will then try to find dark place somewhere on the map ( you can set an artificial dark zone by using the command tr_replicators_dark_level )
  4. The first replicator will then craft blocks to assemble into a queen.
  5. The Queen will do stuff like a basic Replicator but after a short while she will sit and start to pumping out replicators like a factory.
  6. All non-queen replicators will then move around harvesting all available metal resources on the map and bring them back to the queen to then pump out more replicators.

WARNING
If anyone harms the replicator queen all free replicators will attack them. If you come too close to an active replicator you will also pull aggro from ALL the replicators.

Artificial intelligence
  1. All Replicators can create waypoints (points of interest like metal resources or dark areas) that can assist the replicators as a group to find enemies and new recources.
  2. Replicators can use world props as metal sources.

Current Bugs:
  1. Replicators can sometimes fall out of the world if in a strange zone or walking at an awkward angle.
  2. Replicators can sometimes get stuck in the world. This will usually only happen if the player removes a prop it was consuming, a prop was not frozen while being walked on and it fell, or reassembles on a ramp.
  3. Replicators can sometimes get stuck in a place.
  4. Replicators can sometimes create multiple queens. ( this may or may not be a bug :D )
  5. Replicators can sometimes harvest metal outside of their intended range.

Console commands:
tr_replicators_limit [default 30] - sets a max replicator production. After this point all replicators will stop gathering and creating new replicators. They will however aggro onto anyone during this time. tr_replicators_collection_speed [default 5] - sets the metal resource collection speed tr_replicators_giving_speed [default 10] - sets the metal return-to-queen speed. Reduces the amount that it takes for the worker replicators to turn over metal resources to the queen. tr_replicators_dark_level [default 20] - sets a level of dark that can be used as a hive location. tr_replicators_blocks_multiplier [default 1] - sets the ratio of replicator blocks to assemble each replication tick. tr_replicators_draw_decals[default 1] - sets a draw for replicators decals.

Can you add a flying replicator? it would be cool if you have a floating metal object or a aggroed on npc in the air and those replicators could fly torwards it and attack, could you also add a possessing ability where we can play as the replicators?
