Atmos Paladin

Description
The "standard" multi-role fighter of the kingdom of Eden, the Atmos Paladin combines high performance, high damage and durability into a single small craft. Designed specifically for military use, it requires expert pilots willing to fly aggressively.

Updated:
-Slight cosmetic/practicality changes
-Projector for core ship added
-Projector for core ship plus rocket pod added

The rocket pod includes a battery of six additional rocket launchers, a timer and a programmable block preloaded with Whip's Weapon Sequencer script:

For detailed instructions and usage including setting up rate of fire etc, go there. If I have this set up wrong somehow PLEASE don't bother the poor dude with it!

Otherwise, just Timer Block[Rocket Pod] -> Trigger Now, then select missiles and hold down the fire button.

If you use this pod the default way, it's not very effective. Still totally vanilla though!


Features:

-Completely vanilla, performs like an absolute BEAST with speed and aerodynamic mods.
-Fly everywhere with hydrogen POWER.
-Utilizes common, easily procurable hydrogen as a fuel source.
-Four centralized gatling guns provide focused damage and high accuracy on each side of the cockpit.
-Every rocket hits and hurts, four rocket launchers well spaced along a single axis provide high damage without wasting your rockets in fratricidal explosions.
-Centrally mounted nose cam for scouting distant targets or picking off turrets.
-Switch bulk gyros on and off from a single button in the cockpit for incredible accuracy even when zoomed all the way in.
-Weapons are placed expertly and will not self damage the craft except for at very high(500m/s+) speeds.
-Well armored.
-Weighs approximately fifty tonnes.
-Fueled by a single battery and hydrogen tank.
-Ore detector.
-Survival capable.

Planned features:
-Add-ons: ground to space booster module, space to ground re-entry shield
-Still needs to be supplied, so it has zero ammo/fuel at the moment


In order to use the projectors, they must be turned on. In order to build the add-on rocket pod, the ship's merge block must also be turned on first or you will have nothing to weld to!

I don't play survival, so the feedback is very welcome.

That's a lot of why I'm building this one with an add-on plate idea. Still playing with the idea but a bottom mounted disposable plate with batteries and atmo thrusters would help a lot when leaving atmosphere. Outside of atmosphere, a disposable add-on solar/battery/ion plate would be useful.

As far as the thrusters go, the next design is probably going to be smaller with calculated weight limits, minimal maneuvering thrusters and most of the power located at the back. Probably won't have as much armor though.

I've done a fair amount of testing small hydro crafts in Survival. I can easily tell that a single hydro tank will last this vessel all of about 2 minutes (if that). Far less in atmosphere. My Venin strike fighter (I don't think I've published it yet, still refining it) weighs in about 33k kg and has three or four oxy generators that produce hydro on demand. Full load it sits at about 117k kg, and uses four small thrusters in each direction, 6 rear and 5 front. I had made a variant where I swapped two of the generators for a tank so I could get fuel readouts on Configurable LCD scripts and it performed so poorly that I scrapped it.

Survival is a huge difference from Creative, especially for hydrogen ships.

my rule for modship's is that the ship's frame or any important areas are made of mod parts, look at my battlecruiser, the mods that are "required" aren't necessary for the ship to work, but it will work as intended with them. just a helpful hint, shipbuilder-a-shilpbuilder talk.

Sweet! I try to make them survival friendly and pretty vanilla though, folks can always mod them after downloading and then nobody has to download extra mods to fly them.

thx, also I'm arming that thing to the teeth, it now has the equivalent of over 37 missile launchers with minimal increase in mass, and I've added a jump engine and a better reactor. As a Fleet Admiral & a Chairman my safety requires some defenses, also added anti drone turrets to the back.
