Description
An upgrade of my older F-15, this sexy fighter jet features:
  • Antares Squadron paint job
  • Upgraded gun system - 4-power, semi-automatic - mash that fire button!
  • Enhanced control surface durability (improved elevators and ailerons)
  • Automated landing gear (REQUIRES ACM, see Mod Support below)
  • Heatwave effect for engine exhausts (REQUIRES VectorThrusters, see Mod Support below)
  • Block count: 411 (50%-70% timescale recommended)

Steering:
R T Y
F G H - Pitch, Roll and Yaw

C - Toggle Engines
X - Full Throttle (held)
Z - Airbrake (held)
B - Afterburner (lasts ~30 seconds, greatly increases maneuverability)

Utility:
Right Alt / . - Landing Gear
Arrow Keys - Ground Controls
V - Cameras

Weaponry:
1, 3, 4, 6 (NumPad) - Bomb-tipped rockets
5 (NumPad) - Cannons (Enable Infinite ammo for semi-automatic fire)


MOD SUPPORT:
This plane supports two mods:
  • ACM[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] (Advanced Controls Mod by Lench) - Makes the landing gear fully automatic, proximity-based.
  • VectorThrusters[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] (by Pixali) - Adds a heatwave effect to the plane's exhaust
Please note that neither of the mods are required for the plane to work.

Dev log
Shadé asked me to remap this relatively old jet to a different control layout so that he could use it in his video. I happily obliged and decided to make some improvements to the original design along the way. This is the result

F-15 Antares is more durable than the original F-15E I had built. The elevators were reinforced to prevent the fighter from automatically performing devastating 360 spins at high speeds, which usually ended with the engine being torn out of the fuselage. Derp.

This change came at the cost of slightly decreased pitching speed. Nothing, compared to losing an engine, amirite?

In the end I also upgraded the guns, something that I've never built properly. The result is quite nice, they can be fired in rapid succession and shouldn't break if used cautiously. 4 power is also enough to effectively wreck stuff. However, both guns weigh a ton. F-15's weight increased from ~174 to ~192 units just because of them. Next milestone on the list - outfitting a jet with a spammable 7.2-power cannon, which has enough power to wreck Ipsilon brick. This would effectively eliminate the need for it to carry explosives, unless they were meant to start fires.

@supersingh Yes. Spoilers lock in place when wings are swept for more precise roll. With ACM installed (one of the mods i mentioner earlier), wing sweep will be automatic, depending most likely on speed and whether the player is afterburning or not. It's what I'm currently working on, in fact.

@supersingh yes, it's almost ready. It will have support for three mods: Vector Thrusters, Advanced Controls Mod, and Lench Scripter Mod. Get familiar with those if you want access to the plane'e extra features. It will work fine without them, too.

Only the tower breaks.
Ipsilon castle is impossible to break with velocity alone, it need explosion force.

@Rincewind Hmm, just tested it, some brick still break from a 7.2 cannon's impact, but some don't. Weird.

Am I the only one who can't use cannons anymore to destroy the ipsilon castles? The tower on the old sandbox map breaks just fine but the castles on the regular levels don't break anymore not even with 10 power and above.
