Sanguine's notes did point towards entity capable of altering elements by manipulating their temperature and structure, we just couldn't expect this to be happening so close.

Tennenh was known as one of the most ambitious Overseer, who's plans to take control over forces of Nature were met with lack of belief and questions of sanity and integrity by fellow Overseers. For years he kept practicing various technics of altering material objects into other forms and states for unknown purposes. It seems Tennenh did succeed in his experiments. It's odd to see someone with such talents being involved into such practice, but it looks like his supervisors will use this knowledge for something Great and Terrible. Grand Underlord, we must learn more about this ''power'', perhaps we will find out who is behind of all this.

Do note though, Sanguine's notes indicate that these two were in touch, which I believe means Tennenh is aware of Sanguine's research and probably is employing it as well. This might make things harder for us.
