Description
(NL) De Hollandse Randstad
(EN) The dutch cityring

Features:
-Map size 1:1 Large
-26 dutch cities with a population of over 50.000 (in real life), scaling their growth ingame relative to their real life population.
-River network that is based on real life.
-32 industries, of which most of them are positioned based on real life positions. (e.g. The coal mine is positioned near the right edge of the map, because that would be delivered by train from Germany, farms and forests on positions of real farmland and forests, Steel mills where Tata Steel is, etc)
-Height changes that are created from a real heightmap.

No worries, my interest is in the trains... but I can see that recreating streets and one way systems could be fun too. Hoping that the new Urban Games production allows much more.

Problem is, i feel like I'm missing some tools to really enjoy doing a map like that. I'd want to be able to create one way streets for onramps on highways and ofcourse for the inner city which has alot of one way streets and that's not possible :( That's one of the things that held me back from creating something like that. I hope I didn't get your hopes up too much. Don't count on me creating anything, but again if I do, i'll let you know.

Oh yes please.... OK, I am biased, as I live in Dordrecht, but the old freight lines around the port would be great... Steel and goods and Timber locations.

Or any of the bigger cities, with trams... Den Haag to Rotterdam, and include the Randsatd Light Rail as well as trams.

Watching out for it.

Hi Julie,
I have to agree with the scale, and I was thinking about creating something with a more realistic scale, but with less total content. I was thinking about reproducing a whole city in all it's detail with every real life street present. But it would serve more like a model railway then a playable map.
Most likely won't be creating a large scale map, but I'll let you know if I decide to do so anyway.

I have had great fun on this map, the only one that I have found so far that has Dordrecht on an island. And I have all the Randstad routes running perfectly. Smaller stops added with Plopable Residential mod.

But the map is still not large enough to put in the accurate size for stations. I don'r suppose that you will be reproducing this again at a correct scale to allow stations and trains to be the appropriate sizes?
