Advanced Logistics Hopper

Description
The Advanced Logistics Hopper is a specialized hopper designed to address a number of common manufacturing chain, tight space, and quantity management challenges through a number of additional configurable features.

Limit Conveyor and Generic Auto Crafter Extraction On Any Hopper Side

One of the biggest issues with tight space manufacturing lines is where a conveyor cannot be placed in the desired direction because it would be next to hopper and pull items from it that it shouldn't. The Advanced Logistics Hopper solves this problem by allowing the individual locking of any hopper face against extraction by conveyor belts, pipes, and generic auto craft (GAC) machines.

Manual Transfer Denomination

A frequent nuisance with building smaller multiblock machines, such as refineries and turbines, is having extra cubes left over because a hopper gave you more than needed, and you didn't want to spend time tediously inserting them one at time back in to get down to the quantity actually needed. Enough of this. The manual transfer denomination settings let you set the quantity pulled each time you press the extract key. Have some of the blocks in your inventory already? No problem. Your manual extraction action will pull just the amount needed to keep your inventory at the set denomination.

Adjustable Capacity

Tired of carrying smaller hoppers around and juggling which ones to use? Or having excess amounts of limited resources sitting in manufacturing line hoppers? The Advanced Logistics Hopper allow setting the maximum hopper capacity to the exact size needed for the application.

Adjustable Reserve Quantity

Need to hold some manufacturing intermediates back for manual crafting needs? The reserve quantity setting lets you set the number of items to be held in reserve which can only be removed by manual extraction.

Adjustable Reserve Space

A frequent issue with manufacturing chains of items such as Mass Storage Inputs/Output and power boosters, is having units on hand that need to be upgraded, but having no way to insert them into your manufacturing chain because the hoppers are full. The reserve space setting solves this by allowing a set amount of hopper space to be left open for manual insertion only.

What would be ideal IMHO would be to modify all existing machines so that conveyors can directly add ingredients & remove items. Essentially add a "virtual hopper" that only accepts in the required items (and is "full" when it has enough) and only allows for extraction of the crafted item. If the current behavior of also searching nearby hoppers also remains, then we could finally chain together machines that look like conveyors as if they were conveyors.

That disconnect between "it looks like a conveyor" and "it doesn't at all act like one!" has always bothered me.

This is complicated, and I'm afraid it's not at all what I was really looking for in an advanced hopper.

1. Uses older crafting ingredients - it should use charged coils and copper wires, not copper PCBs and Charged PCBs, to fit in with the simplification of crafting ingredients that was done in patch... 20? Something like that.

2. Doesn't actually meet my needs, as I can't put it between my MK4 and MK5 powercore chargers without the MK5 feeding backwards into it.

Was the mod enabled on the world screen mod settings?
Mod machines appear on the bottom the mfg plant list.

mxforlife - When pull demonimantion is zero then it should so that would be a bug. Will check tommorrow.

With the normal hoppers you can pull 10 items from the UI by holding down Shift and 1 by holding down CTRL. But with these I can't get that to work. Any chance of having that implemented?

waabshesi - No, a limitation in the interface API prevents that.

Is there any way the per-facet locking could be changed to per-facet permissions? It would be nice to be able to insert one of these directly between two machines.

huh ok no problem then
thx 4 fix! :steamhappy:

jlp1528 - Based on user feedback, discussion, and complaints long ago, it was settled to have it work off a power rate of 5ppi.
