Description
Star Trek 50th Ann. Blueprint no. 13 of 50

Hello everybody, I give you the movie-star, star-ship, the Enterprise A, that made its debut in Star Trek IV: the Voyage Home, and went on to be a major player in 'The Final Frontier' and 'The Undiscovered Country'. This ship was voted on StarTrek.com as fans favorite Kirk ship.

The Constitution-class starship Enterprise-A was commissioned in 2286, at the San Francisco Fleet Yards on stardate 8442.5. She was launched from the Earth Spacedock on the order of the Federation Council in appreciation of Captain James T. Kirk and his crew's efforts to prevent the Whale Probe from devastating Earth.

In Star Trek V: The Final Frontier, the ship was dispatched to rescue hostages on Nimbus III but ends up being hijacked by Spock's half-brother, the Vulcan renegade Sybok (Laurence Luckinbill) and his followers, where they take the ship to the center of the Galaxy in search of God. In Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, the Enterprise-A escorts Klingon chancellor Gorkon (David Warner) to a peace summit on Earth and gets involved in a plot to assinate the Federation President and the Klingon Chancellor to start a war.

Externally, the Enterprise-A was virtually identical to the Enterprise refit, destroyed several months prior to the launch (Star Trek III: The Search for Spock), although some minor changes were made to the colors on the body and engines. The Enterprise-A unlike its previous incarnation, had a vertical warp core similar to that of the Galaxy-class of eighty years later as the core could be accessed through main engineering on Deck 15. An isolation door could be brought down to separate the core from the rest of the ship. (Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country)

I have duplicated this blueprint from a real AMT model and followed the design patterns of the body and the nacell engines as close as possible and have tried to stay true to the color patterns. I orginally had made the top and bottom saucer humps in detail, but this created a 3200 piece blueprint which was not usable. So to downsize to the proper limit, I had to make minor changes to the saucer and navigational array, while still making the model represent the movie ship. The lights, photon torpedo chutes, phaser housings, and decal markings have all been replicated as close as possibe to the real ship. This ship maxes out at the 2000 piece limit.

***Free Rotation***
There is a small grey block underneath the ship's belly to make this a one-piece blueprint making movability very easy, If you want to rotate this ship in free mode, simply delete the block in edit mode and use the multi-select and X control to rotate in any direction.
