Button Info

The Replenish Cards button will add/remove cards to the decks on the Wires plate and the Roles plate so that there are the appropriate amount of cards for the number of players seated at the table.

The Deal Cards button will deal out the roles to every player hand; deal out the Wire cards in rows infront of each player, printing out what each player has infront of them (in order from highest to lowest number) and set all the counters to zero.

The Collect Cards button returns the face-up Safes to the Safes plate, the face-up Successes in front of the Successes plate in a row, any role cards which are not in a Player's hand to the Roles plate and the rest of the face-down cards to the Wires plate.

How to Play

TimeBomb is a hidden roles game for 4 - 8 players. It has two roles: Swat & Terrorist. Players are dealt either card and will keep it hidden for the entire game. The Terrorists' aim is to cut the card titled BOOM!!. The SWAT team's aim is to cut all of the Success cards equal to the number of players.

The number of Successes available in the game is equal to the number of players. There is always just one BOOM!! card. These amounts may be different for custom set-ups.

Press Replenish Decks to fix the decks for the amount of players, then press Deal Cards. In the first round every player will have 5 Wire cards in front of them and every consecutive round will have 4, 3, then finally 2.

Each player will receive a print-out of the cards they have infront of them. They can claim the amount of successes they have by adjusting their counter, as well as claim to have a bomb by taking a bomb token.

The Snipper either starts with the host of the game, or with the last person to have the Snipper. The Snipper cuts wires. Pass the Snipper to someone and flip over one of their cards to cut it. They now have the Snipper and can cut another person's wire. The Snipper is passed around cutting wires until the amount of wires that there are players have been cut.

Collect and redeal the cards. Repeat moving the Snipper around and then collecting/redealing until the final round, when everyone has two cards each. If the Swat don't find all the Successes by the end of this round, the Terrorists win.

It looks like that mod used an interesting Success count for 8 players. The original TimeBomb only played up to 6, so I'm guessing people were trying different card ratios while playtesting. I don't know what quantities the Cthulhu version uses since those rules aren't posted online (only their base 6-player rules are posted), but the Iello version does indeed only use 8 Successes for 8 players. I know there's a variant with 2 Booms and lots of Successes, but I haven't really tried that one out yet. It would also make the game easier to explain with 8 players....# of Successes would allways equal the number of players across all player counts. Bonus! :)

I actually pulled the card amounts from Zee's mod. I can change it if that's not the right amount?

It's interesting that you are using 9 Successes for an 8-player game. I recently received the Iello reprint of TimeBomb which plays up to 8 players and they only have 8 Successes and 1 Boom card. Did the 2 Successes format come from the Cthulhu reprint rules?
