Tak & Snarl | Goblin & Fangtoof

- Lore -

After being blessed with a real "spirit beast" (see also: being unable to make it stop following him around), Tak was beaten and snubbed by the larger goblins of his tribe. They were jealous of how fast and easily the bond between Snarl and Tak had formed. What normally took years (or decades in goblin time) had taken Tak nought but an accidental wandering into a not-so-abandoned fangtoof cave.

Even with Snarl at his side during the frequent brawls, Tak’s broodmates were either too numerous or too large for the duo to fend off. The day that Snarl took a good chunk out of the Tribe’s Chief’s favored bruiser marked Tak’s last day as part of the tribe – he had to leave. Tak explored far and wide (by night) dodging bandits and bruisers all along the way.

Weeks have passed since then, and just recently, after an intense (if short) altercation with a cruel magician, Tak now finds himself in the lands of Don’t Starve. Terrified, but not alone, Tak is has no choice but to begin a new life amidst the darkness.

Tak is a goblin with his trusty fangtoof, Snarl. As a goblin, he likes stinky things, his fangtoof Snarl, and cool, dark shadows. He doesn’t like fire/heat, pain or bright places.

- Stats -

TAK
Health : 145
Hunger : 100
Sanity : 75

SNARL
Health : 400
Hunger : 150
Sanity : N/A (Fangtoofs are too happy-go-lucky for fear)

- Perks & Weaknesses –

[Thick Goblin Hide]

“Too cold an’ damp in caveses? Floor rocks are too sharp and cuts ‘em? Next you’ll tells us dat da others don’ like eatin’ poo!” –Tak to WX-78, Day 1

Being wet simply doesn’t bother you, and you are resistant to changes in temperature.
It is harder for you to heat up and much harder to cool off.
You have minor inherent damage reduction from most sources.
Tak doesn't gain as much dapperness from items as other characters (he doesn't like being clothed, it hides his green skin!)

“Whys are you always tryin’ ta lights fings on fire? Bein’ in da shadows is da best! Wait, whys are you comin’ o’er ‘ere? No no no nonononononoNoNoNONO—AHHHH! IT BURNNSSS US!” –Tak to Willow, Day 2

You lose sanity as you get closer to sources of fire.
You take extremely increased damage from burning.
You have minor night vision at all times… except in extreme weather

[Questionable Appetite]

“You throwin’ dat away? Whys? Dat’s perfectly good *munch, crunch*... Huh? Oh, the crawlies don’ bother me – dey’s extra flavor!”. –Tak to Wickerbottom, Day 4

Tak can eat Horrible things with reduced damage to himself.
He gets hungry more quickly than most, but gains additional hunger from eating progressively more spoiled foods.
Additionally, Tak can eat poop to regain a bit of goblin sanity and health.

[It’s not weird down here]

“Of course da caveses is perfectly safe. Hmm, ‘wots dat,’ you ask? Oh, dat’s a tentacle-fing. Yeh, dey’s everywhere down ‘ere. Dat? Eyeballmonster, dey taste funny. Oh dat? I dunno wot dat is. Let’s hopes it stays o’er dere, yeh?” –Tak to Wilson upon entering the Caves, Day 8

Tak is less afraid of weird things & nightmare creatures than most characters.
Tak is very afraid of being hurt, however, and suffers sanity loss on taking damage.
In an effort not to be hurt often, Tak runs slightly faster than the average character.

[Spirit Animal: Fangtoof]

“You killed it all bys yourself, Snarl?! Who’s a good boy? Dat’s right, it’s you!” Tak to Snarl upon investigating a hollow stump, Day 9

Tak is accompanied by Snarl.
Snarl is independent from Tak, but will follow him.
Snarl can be told to stay or follow you by clicking on him or by hitting ‘v’ (this can be rebound).
Snarl likes to dig, and will dig up any stumps and graves nearby. (Placeholder animations currently)

Tak does a bit less damage than the average character. Snarl does a bit more damage than, and attacks a bit faster than, an average Hound. Therefore, if Snarl and Tak are attacking the same thing, that thing will take significantly more damage than most other characters could do alone.
Snarl will defend Tak to the death, but wont attack things otherwise (except for cat-creatures, rabbits, gobblers and moles; some hates are universal)

Tak can feed Snarl directly, or Snarl will feed himself from food on the ground if he is starving.
Snarl will regenerate health while not starving, at the cost of hunger.

Tak can resurrect Snarl by using a Canine Heart on Snarl’s bones, (or Snarl’s Collar, if you lose the bones). Canine Heart and Snarl's Collar can be crafted in the Survival menu.
Watching Snarl die is painful to Tak, and he will suffer massive sanity penalties while Snarl is dead.
Tak can resurrect himself even in non-endless modes by possessing Snarl. This kills Snarl immediately as Tak bursts forth from his body. Tak will likely be insane if this route is taken, but wont suffer maximum health damage.

- Starting Items / Special Items -

Tak begins the game with Snarl.

Tak and Snarl is very good and I like it. But one thing is missing. How I can know how much Hunger or Health Snarl have (during playing)? Thanks you.

@A Suicidal Banana - sorry to hear that, but I'm afraid your case is unique, as neither I nor any of my testers have run into that... :(
