This is NOT a fix. It allows stats to be raised beyond 18, beyond 25 or below 0 during creation, but it can produce a random average stat suitable for the character. If the stat is raised above 25, available points will continue to be consumed, but the stat will not rise. If the stat is lowered to negative numbers, it will continue to lower, and available points will continue to rise. Not sure what the effect of negative stats are, but likely not pretty.
Perhaps someone can come up with better formulas that don't bust past 18 during creation. Until a fix is implemented, this should allow you to playtest characters with the stats you want, but able to have stats raised properly in game.
Symptom: classes drinking from fountains or consuming potions of gain ability, potions of enlightenment, or food which raise stats receive message that their stat cannot be increased further without the aid of devices. That's not the exact message, but it prevents characters with a stat higher than what their die rolls would allow from raising beyond that point. e.g. 2d6+4 would not be able to raise their stat higher than 16.
Workaround: More complicated math. Add large + and - roll to die roll. e.g. Instead of a stat roll of 4d2+9, make it 25d2-25d2+4d2+9, or 5d6-4d5+3d2-2. This will allow the stat to be raised to the maximum in game.
Often early, only a few levels down. Door will make squeak-open sound, but not open. Seems to be all doors on the level. When I can reach the next level and come back up opposite, door does not work in other direction, either. Doors on other levels work OK. Pet/enemies can still open these stuck doors. Sometimes it dead-ends the game.
1) It would be nice if some unconventional pets could wear collars. Sewer rats (which are interestingly much smaller than huge rats), for example. Hats and robes on humanoids like zombies and mummies (maybe this already works). Capes and rings are another thing which might be put on pet creatures which would not normally wear them.
2) It would be nice to have class descriptions during the game start, so others using the classes can understand what or who they are. The description line appears nowhere. "Peter Pan, that precocious perpetual boy has sought another new adventure. If he can find enough blue mushrooms, he can summon Tinkerbell."
Thanks Waz and modders. Looking forward to more fixes and improvements (and the other secret project Waz is working on).
The bug appeared during game start. After clicking 'Enter' the character would drop past the point it normally grabbed the ladder, completely off screen at the bottom. The game froze and no buttons, not even ESC worked. The non-working class might be in the middle or beginning or any position in my list.
I had subscribed to two other eight packs which I used as reference. I tried re-numbering my list with mixed unreliable results. I unsubscribed from the other two groups and they all started working.
I would think it is a bug on the quantity subscribed/active if not for the fact some were not working and others, later on my list, worked fine. Again, they all work when I unsubscribed other classes.
