Description
Corroden!

Hey everyone! I am back with yet another Corroden skin and this time I chose the geometry of the CZ-75 as my playground. At first glance I used yet again a combination with rust and wood. The last TEC-9 Corroden was not necessarily received well but this does not mean I will not create these skins again. No, I will try to improve it untill I am happy with it but also untill you are happy with it. Even with this skin there has been tons of improvements on the artwork and I hope you like it! :)

Work Progress

As I previously mentioned I have improved on the wood a lot since the last skin. I have added more and more wear and tear to the wood to really illustrate that this weapon has been used a lot. Especially at the front of the wood you can see quite some scratches and chipped parts of wood. This damaging has then again also been used to define the geometry on the gun even more. I have also changed the values of saturation on the rust, the brightness of the wood has been altered and last but not least some small changes to the green-ish metal. The aimed at rarity for this weapon skin is mil-spec/restricted hence the usage of less saturated colours.

Making The Alpha Channel

For this skin I chose the Gunsmith finish because of its versatility. While having a chemical reaction on the wood/top slider I could also have some scratching metal happening on different parts of the gun. There is not so much wear going when the weapon is in factory new and minimal wear. Only the ejector port on the backside of the gun will slowly start scratching when the weapon is above the float value of 0.05. After minimal wear you really start noticing wear on the green metal and magazine. Parts that are not covered with rust will become shinier because of the original texture shader settings peeking through. When the weapon enters its Battle-Scarred state the slider will become darker and darker and this blue-ish smudge will appear on the wooden part of the gun. It looks pretty nice if you want to go with the apocalyptic look.

Last Words

This was a really fun skin to create and I am 100% sure that I will continue working with wood to create more of these finishes. There is still a ton to learn but I am more than happy with the development. I really hope you guys enjoy the skin as much as I do and if you do please let Valve know by pressing the Yes button below the image carousel. To give you guys an update on the tutorials I am now ready to start recording these and I expect them to go up somewhere after February 3rd.

Thank you so much for reading!
