Industrial Fan (Portal 2)

IF YOU DON'T HAVE PORTAL 2 (mounted in your GMod), then you'll need this prop and texture pack that I've also uploaded!

If you have Portal 2 content enabled in GMod, then the map should work fine without it.


INTERNAL NAME: MP_COOP_FAN_P2PORT

Look in the Portal 2 map section if you can't find it. Launch it even if the thumbnail says it's not compatible.


This is a refined port of mp_coop_fan, one of the most memorable maps of the co-op gamemode of Portal 2. To be accurate, this map is actually Chamber 8 of the Co-op Course 2, often referred to simply as "Industrial Fan" or "that one level with the big fan". This map was carefully fixed to be as close as possible to the real map!

If you don't know this map, it contains a very large cave-like room, with a giant industrial fan rotating at high speed on one of the walls, some metal walkways and concrete platforms, and a couple of offices. And of course, like in any Portal map, a lot of glass tubes.


Features:

- HDR and LDR compatible
- All cubemaps included and working
- All areaportals fixed and working
- Navigation mesh included and working (though only for the concrete platform)
- Fan is actually rotating and quite deadly


Known bugs:

- The map is mostly non-functional, compared to Portal 2. The doors won't open, you can't turn on the lights in the office, the various Aperture devices don't work, but that's to be expected. In short, this map should mainly be used for fun and scenery, since it is mostly impractical.
- The map is poorly optimized. The reason for that is that it uses a lot of dynamic lights (like most Portal 2 maps). It does look pretty neat, but there's a performance hit.
- Soundscapes don't work. I've tried really hard to figure out why, but they just don't.
- If you're playing without Portal 2 mounted, the tube entrance (where you spawn) might have broken reflections. Given that it's a bit hard to notice when you immediately start falling down, I've decided to give up on it for now.
