This is a complete coaxial swashplate. It can fly like a real helicopter since it features all the necessary controls (Pitch, roll, yaw and collective)

Note that this is not a completely realistic coaxial rotor since it uses variable speed (motor wheels) for yaw control. A real coaxial rotor uses differential collective but that is very complex mechanism and the reason why coaxial rotors are so uncommon in real life.

Most real life coaxial rotors also features cyclic pitch (swashplate controls) for both lower and upper rotor but this design only has it for the lower rotor. This is, however, more than enough to control the helicopter and it reduces block count and complexity. The collective pitch, however, is featured on both rotors.

I have built a coaxial rotor with cyclic pitch for both upper and lower rotor and also differential collective but I haven't got around to build an actual helicopter with this rotor design.

Features:

Pitch and roll (called cyclic) Pitch makes the nose of the helicopter go up and down. Roll makes the helicopter roll from side to side.

Yaw (yaw rotates the helicopter)

Adjustable collective (Steering hinges are used for this mechanism. They are the best choice since it is possible to limit their angles) Collective makes the helicopter go up and down.


How a swashplate works:

A swashplate consists of a lower and an upper part. The lower part is attached to the fuselage. It consists of the the pistons. The upper part moves together with the rotor. The lower part transmits movement to the upper part which then can change the pitch of each rotor blade as the blades moves around.
