Basic Logic Gates

Description
If you've been looking at this collection, or any of the ones linked to it, you've undoubtebly heard of logic gates. These laser-operated devices form the base of most mechanisms. If you don't have any experience with them, however, you might find them slightly confusing. This map showcases all seven logic gates and their functionality in as simple a form as possible, with excursion funnels acting as outputs. The gates are as follows (in order of appearance):

NOT: When you press the button, the funnel turns off. This is done by connecting the button to the funnel and selecting "start enabled".

AND: The excursion funnel only activates when both buttons are pressed. This is done by connecting the buttons to the excursion funnel.

NAND: Conversely to the AND gate, the funnel turns off when both buttons are pressed. This is done by building an AND gate and selecting "start enabled" on the funnel.

OR: Pressing one or both of the buttons activates the excursion funnel. This is done by connecting each button to a laser, having both lasers point at the same relay, and connecting the relay to the funnel.

NOR: Pressing one or both of the buttons turns the funnel off. This is done by building an OR gate, then selecting "start enabled" on the funnel.

XOR: This logic gate essentially acts as an OR gate combined with a NAND gate. In this particular example, pressing one button will activate a laser, plus an angled panel that prevents the other laser from hitting the relay. As a result, the gate begins by acting as an OR gate; when you press one button, the funnel turns on. When you press both buttons, however, the funnel turns off. Check out my map "The XOR Gate - Explained" for further XOR designs.

XNOR: The funnel only activates when either no buttons are pressed, or both of them. This is done by building an XOR gate and selecting "start enabled" on the funnel

I hope that this chamber will help you understand logic gates and inspire you to create mechanisms of your own. Remember to rate, comment, and give feedback!

@EccleStone I'm glad this helped you :)

Thanks a lot - now I understand different logics and will use them soon.

Thanks, that was exactly what I was going for :)

NICE man .. this is what i was looking for .. complex maps .. but with simple mechanisms :)

take a look at my AdBEEnture chamber .. when you can .. maybe you can suggest some stuff ... here's the link. https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=90634682

I'll definitely take a look!

Please have a look at my workshop, too. Geneosis thinks my maps are good, so I think that says something!

Yeah, I see what you mean. I put the doors there to prevent players from skipping directly from one room to another, so that they're "forced" to take a look at all of the mechanisms (I don't want people commenting "U CAN JUST WALK STRAIT THROO" or any crap like that". But I's just wondering... what else could the funnel possibly be there for? I think that positioning it in the centre, right with the mechanism and everything should be enough. But anyways, it's always great to have another point of view, and I'll certainly look at removing the doors. Thanks for your feedback :)

Hi, I got to your profile through Geneosis's comment section.
I know what you tried to show here, but on first glance, there are two OR gates and two XOR gates. My first instinct was, that the gate itself would be used to open or close the door to the next room, which was obviously wrong. It is VERY hard to notice the funnel as the element being switched, when you have this get-to-the-next-room feeling.

Leave out the doors entirely is my suggestion.

Thanks :) It's going to take me a while to replace the screenshots, though... I might leave them as they are for now, as they still demonstrate the functionality perfectly.

Wow you should get an extra rating for all your effort.
