Oxidize!

Man what was this weapon a pain in the butt. Lots of stuff did not go as planned when I took this weapon to the drawing table. After countless cups of coffee, thousands virtually crumpled papers and brainstorming I finally landed on a look that I thought was pleasing to the eye and good enough to be submitted to the workshop. I present, the MAG-7 Oxidize. Yes I gave up on the name Corroden, Oxidize sounds soooooooo much better.

Work Progress

As earlier stated this weapon was a pain in the butt. I initially started with an oxide blaze like design, so with flames at the front. After drawing flames for 4 hours and trying to make them fit the geometry of the gun I had to come to the conclusion that my oxide blaze look would not do the weapon any good and it would even make it look sloppy as if I was trying to imitate my previous work without succes. The cockback mechanism of this South African import shotgun made it impossible to get that nice look of the oxide blaze at the front and would push the flames all the way to the magazine area of the shotgun which looked atrocious. Also the top part of the weapon being mirrored does not really help with the whole projection. Here is a little WIP screen I took so you can judge it yourself.

So there I was, no flames. I decided to fall back on my Corroden/Oxidize originals which are the MAC-10 and Sawed-Off which are focused on just rust and white paint. Also this did not turn out to be as easy as I initially thought. The design progress was slow and I kept changing things to fit the gun better. After watching a video about the MAG-7 as a gun itself and it's deconstruction I was keen to finally tackle this thing. Slowly but surely pieces fell into place and I was left with this end design. Besides adding rust I upgraded the cockback grip to a plastic like finish with additional grip at the bottom.

Wear Progress

There is not really something super duper special about this wear. I kept the basic things in mind such as diversity within the qualities itself. The main pistol grip of the MAG-7 starts wearing at around 0.14 and the main body starts wearing at the back at 0.08. The inner barrel which you can see at the front will wear somewhere around 0.25 which reveals the shiny original metal texture which delivers a contrast to the rusted part.

Last Words

Eventhough this submission wasn't as smooth in it's development progress it does not take away the fact that I'd personally use this weapon if it were available in CS:GO. The skin fits perfectly within my Corroden/Oxidize series and I sincerely hope you enjoy it aswell! :)

I am still working on the UMP-45 Oxide Blaze and I have the feeling that I should be able to finish it somewhere next week so keep your eyes out for that! :)))

Cya!
