How to get "Building Progression Icons" and "Ultimate Chaos" to work together

I use a lot of mods for Total War Warhammer to improve the vanilla game even more. From my point of view various mods are needed to make Total War Warhammer the glorious game it should be.

To achive this I made a Basic and Expanded Mod Collection. If you want an easy way to enjoy the game the same way I do - go and subscribe.

This guide will tell you how to modify Building Progression Icons to make it compatible with Ultimate Chaos. It's not mandatory but saves the time activating Ultimate Chaos and deacitivating Building Progression Icons every time when you play as Chaos and don't want the chaos buildings bugging while doing so.

Basic Setup
Prepare the *.PACK files
  • I recommend making a compy of the bulding progression Items Pack file. To do this navigate to your Steam folder:

    .\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER\data

    the default path is:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Total War WARHAMMER\data

  • find the file named spartanvi_bldg_icons.pack and make a copy of it

  • rename the copy to something like spartanvi_bldg_icons_comp_ultimate_chaos.pack

  • find the file named spartanvi_bldg_icons.png and make a copy of it

  • rename the copy to something like spartanvi_bldg_icons_comp_ultimate_chaos.png

    the name of the *.pack and *.png have to be identical! Your .\Total War WARHAMMER\data folder should now look something like this:

Edit the *.PACK file
This is when the actual work starts.

  • open your Packfile Manager
  • open the spartanvi_bldg_icons_comp_ultimate_chaos.pack like shown in the pictures



  • navigate to the table @svibldg_data__core which we have to edit. Select the table so you can see its collums in the right pane.



  • order the table by the building collum and navigate down to the building keys starting wh_main_horde_chaos_....



  • select all the lines with the building keys starting wh_main_horde_chaos_..... Just klick infront of the first line number with such a key and drag down to the last.



  • delete all the selected lines simply by pressing the "DEL" key on your keyboard.
  • after you've deleted the lines save and close Packfile Manager
Modmanager/Cleanup
  • make sure you disable the original Building Progression Icons in your Modmanager
  • you can upload your newly edited Building Progression Icons - Ultimate Chaos Compatible to the workshop if you like, but make sure to NOT share it with anything besides your friends!

Whats your problem exactly? You can't combine every mod with each other. Most should be no problem tough. Sometimes you just need to merge the databases together, sometimes you need to exclude certain rows like in the case of "Building Progression Icons" and "Ultimate Chaos".

I've been struggling to use many mods together, and spent weeks trying to learn the PACK thing, but I feel lost.
