its purple when in first person. i guess that is the inverted colour

The weird black coating is due to the current "vertexlitgeneric" shader. The screenshots are using the newer "ShaderGGX" shaders.
Not for Sten and BAR as US and Commonwealth didnt have much specific camouflage except for olive-green/drab or khaki

There seems to be some wierd black coating that only renders at certain angles

I dont think they had painted camouflage on weapons at that time.. but since it looks good why not. Truth be told heavily inspired by Sniper Elite 3`s mp44 camo
