Report a translation problem
that sounds like a real possibility.
as some maps I have played, with only 8 conections per item possible.
the antlines were so many, that they were useless.
as you could not tell, what was connected to what ?
though signage also has the problem of limited symbols.
so items not connected to each other, may have the same symbols.
thankyou for your responce.
I just downloaded the PDF "Binary circuits explained" without any problem,
from your dropbox. thankyou again.
as for my main problem (I previously refered to) being the item limit.
I actualy mean items eg. how many lasers, fizzlers, cube dropers etc,
that I can use, before the map will not build or publish.
their are a few good people out there, like yourself, who show others about different gates / connections & applications.
so I have picked up knowledge & even worked out some things on my own.
(I still have a lot to learn) but with the maps I make, they often will not build or publish,
untill I delete items, (antlines, especialy long ones count towards the item limit, so I tend to use sinage to allow for more items)
deleting items without deminishing the consepts & player satisfaction of the maps, often demands a lot of thought & re-design.
if you have time please play my map:

thanks for the information.
So i have just uploaded the PDF to my public DropBox folder in case you are still interested.

About breaking the 8 items limit: No need for a mod. Create a multiplexer. This is easy and here is how:
Let's say you have a button and want to switch more than 8 items with it.
- Connect the button to a laser
- put as many laser relays as you need along the laser beam and one laser catcher at the end.
- Now you can connect up to 8 items to EACH of the laser relays and the catcher.
So for example with 3 relays and one laser catcher you can switch 4 * 8 = 32 items!
PDF file would display, but not download.
they offered to scan & fix my pc.
but no thankyou to them.
no real problem or your fault.
just thought you may like to know.
I don't understand why, as we live in a binary (2 (on or off)) world of electronic circuits
& pc's 1st language.
yet we also live in a world of decimal (10)
but portal 2 has 8 conections on their items ?
where did they get 8 from ?
well better than 2.
& we can increase the more items we connect, creating our own circuits.
my main problem is the item limit, but not ready for mods.
thankyou for your very good explanation of the binary circuits.
There are a couple of things that could be changed to make it a bit more user-friendly, though. First, there were a couple of rooms where the antlines were a little bit off. For example, in the first NOT gate room, it would probably be a bit easier to follow if the gate was on the other side. Also, while this is a bit aesthetic, it would probably be best to have more of your rooms be symmetrical. It just looks a lot cleaner if it is.
Apart from that, this was really easy to understand, and it actually mirrors the thought process I went through when designing the mechanism :) It's great that you also marked each room number with light strips, it's definitely helpful in case you forget which room you're in. Great job :)
