Description
The McDonnell Douglass F-15 STOL/MTD is a modified Eagle. Developed as a technology demonstrator, it carried out research for studying the effects of thrust vectoring, thrust reversal and enhanced maneuverability.

FEATURES:
  • 8 control surfaces
  • 2D thrust vectoring
  • 2 bombs, 2 missiles
  • Block-efficent Nive (negative water cannon) engine
  • STOL capability
  • Thrust Reversal
  • Fits in the bounding box
  • Block count: 258

  • Toggleable landing gear, exhaust heatwave effect, automatic afterburner flame and a simple AUTOPILOT - these four features are available by installing mods - see Mod Support below for more info!

CONTROLS:
Steering:
R T Y
F G H - Pitch, Roll and Yaw

C - Toggle Engines
X - Afterburner (held)
Z - Airbrake (held)

Utility:
Right Alt / . - Landing Gear
Arrow Keys - Ground Controls
V - First Person Camera

Weaponry:
1, 3 (NumPad) - Bombs
4, 6 (NumPad) - Missiles
NumPad Period - Crossbows
NumPad Enter - Ignite and fire the crossbows (guarantees igniting bolts for 7.5 seconds, crossbows are destroyed in the process)

MOD SUPPORT:
This plane supports three mods:
  • Scripter[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] (by Lench)
  • ACM[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] (Advanced Controls Mod by Lench)
  • VectorThrusters[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] (by Pixali)

With these installed, you gain access to additional features:
  • (VT) Exhaust heatwave effect
  • (VT + ACM) Afterburner flame
  • (ACM) Landing gear becomes a one-key toggle (Right Alt)
  • (Scripter) Autopilot script that will keep the plane level for you (toggle with keypad 8). Flying with autopilot on will overwrite TGFH keys to instead control the offset of roll and pitch angles - for passing over mountains and stuff)

ACM will prompt you to download a library for custom axes upon loading the machine, this is required in order for ACM-associated features to work!

Please note that none of these mods are required for the plane to work. They simply make it easier to use and add purely cosmetic effects.

MODS USED:
Building Tools[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] by TheGuysYouDespise
Easy Scale[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] by Lench
PBP2[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] by ITR
NoBounds[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] also by ITR
Simple Collider Displayer Mod[forum.spiderlinggames.co.uk] by ITR, yet again

DEV LOG
I wanted to see if I could build something fun with low blockcount. I thought I could keep it under 200 blocks, but I settled for giving it some proper fuselage and thus 257 blocks.

This is the first time I used toring (Torque imperfection steering), making the vectoring nozzles much more block efficent than they would otherwise end up being with a piston-based mechanism. They do have some block order-related symmetry issues though, but fixing it is beyond me, if not impossible. Asymmetry is no longer here as of Update v1.2.

Thanks to CCCanyon yet again for general tips on his methods, especially "piston stacks" - a very efficent method of building piston-based RTC - look at the plane's belly to see what I mean.

UPDATE 21.05.2017 [v1.1]:
-Canopy is now more bulbous and pronounced as it should be
-Fixed shaky 1st person camera
-Fixed slight roll stability issues
-1 more block total
-More distinguishable thumbnail

UPDATE 24.05.2017 [v1.2]:
-Finally fixed a very slight asymmetry of the vectoring nozzles
