Description
Stellaris version supported: v1.9.1
Military Station Fortifier 2 for Stellaris 2.0 has been released!

Military Station Fortifier
Increases the power of military stations through gradual fortification methods. Every spaceport, frontier outpost and military station owned by normal countries and fallen empires will be automatically upgraded after being build for up to 10 times using modifiers. Each update will take 10 years to complete.

Developed to improve the defenses of the AI to withstand the attack waves of the Pirate Waves 2 and Monster Waves 3 mods.

Details
Events will be used to add modifiers to all military stations, spaceport and frontiers outpost after they're detected (within a month after being build or after loading an existing save game) for every normal country or (awakened) fallen empire. With each upgrade an increasingly better modifier will be applied to that station to boosts it hitpoints, shields, regeneration, armor, fire rate, weapon damage, range, accuracy and tracking.

The modifiers applied use percentages for most of their bonuses. The highest modifier (tier 10) adds +200% hitpoints, +200% shieldpoints, +100% armor, +10% shield regeneration, +10% health regeneration, +200% weapon damage, +200% fire rate, +100% weapon range, +10 tracking and +10 accuracy. Tier 1 adds 10% of those bonuses, Tier 2 20%, etc.

Every update will take 10 years to complete.

Notes
It will work with existing saves.

The bonuses will also be applied to stations added through mods that make use of the same shipclasses. This includes all military stations.

When the mod is disabled through the loader the fortifications modifiers will become invalid and disappear. The models of the stations that were affected also seem to disappear for a bit but will be restored after a while.

Created as a lightweight mod to increase effectiveness of military stations without touching any Vanilla files.

Should be compatible with any mod out there unless they used their own shipclasses for their stations (which causes some issues so it's highly unlikely) in which case they won't be upgraded.

If you select a military station or frontier outpost and type
event military_station_fortifier.2
in the console it will advance one level immediately.

Not meant to be used together with Novio Magnum 3. Although it will work the stations will become too powerful for an average fleet to defeat.

I've released Military Station Fortifier 2 . Should boost your defenses enough. :)

@Caellach: I'll create a new version that will specifically targets the defense platforms around starbases for timed upgrades. Debating whether starbases should also receive the upgrades as they don't tend to be destroyed.

will this mod end up being updated for 2.0.X?

Yes, after a little testing the boosts are cooinciding better with AI fleet developments. The defender still has an advantage, but not a complete one. Thanks for the ongoing support!

@Doc: Rewrote the mod including larger intervals between upgrades. Any feedback will be appreciated as I'm not using it very actively.

I love this mod, but I'd suggest expanding the amount of time it takes to reach the highest tiers. Typically I see stations hitting the high mark right around the time the AI might be getting aggressive, yet lack the kind of weaponry to take down a station. This results in entire fleets being lost to stations, and early aggressor AIs getting dogpiled afterwards.

It's updated for 1.9 although no real changes were needed and the mod will probably keep on working for a long time to come.

Any chance of an update for 1.9? This mod adds a lot to the game and I miss it. :(
