In this guide I am going to show you how to upgrade the Operation Hydra Coin from bronze to silver and gold and the new diamond level and give you all the information you need to know regarding this operation.

The Operation Hydra coin is upgraded by earning Operation stars.



In contrast to former Operations not only the number of stars needed have changed but also the way you earn them: You won't earn stars directly by fulfilling missions. Instead of this Valve added a new system with "Operation XP" that will work similar to the Profile Rank.
You will get one star for every 2000 XP you earn. There are two different Operation XPs: Guardian XP and Event XP.

You will be able earn Guardian XP for fulfilling missions of the Hydra campaign and earn up to 7 Stars this way. There is no limit of missions you can fulfill per day, so the more you play the faster you will rank up. Since you only need 5 out of 7 Guardian Stars to get Silver you could do the red missions first in order to get the 10000 Guardian XP needed for Silver with the least missions played. However, since the red missions usually are considerably harder to finish than the green ones you probably wouldn't gain any advantage from it.

Event XP is earned for participating in Hydra Events. You will be able to get the additional 18 Stars this way. Hydra events change between War Games, Wingman and Weapons Expert every week. You will be limited to one uprank a week (2000 XP). However, if you fail to rank up you will be able to rank up twice in the next week's event. So you don't need to play every week / participate in every event.

Unlike former Operations Operation Hydra allows you to play as much missions as you want. Thus there really is no fastest way: The more you play the faster you will rank up fulfilling Guardian Missions. After that you will have to participate in Hydra events. Provided you earn all Guardian missions right away and always collect your Hydra Event XP right away you will reach Gold in 10 Weeks (early August) and Diamond in 17 weeks (end of September). There really is no way to accelerate it.

Operation Hydra rotates through a series of events every week. These are events are: Wingman, Weapons Expert and War Games.

Wingman and Weapons Expert are queued competitive modes with their own skill groups. War Games is a collection of casual modificators.

These modificators are: Heavy Assault Suit (casual), Headshots Only (deathmatch), Hunters-Gatherers (dogtag), Stab Stab Zap, The Flying Scoutsman and Trigger Discipline.

Wingman is a competitive best-of-16 2on2 game mode on single bombsite maps.

In Weapon Expert gamemode you will be playing a 5on5 best-of-20 competitive match but you can buy each weapon only once. buy a weapon, you can't buy it again for the rest of the match.

In Hydra Events the maps that are played will change on a daily basis.

The Operation Hydra Coin is obtained by activating a Operation Hydra pass on your account. You can buy a pass on the Steam Market Place or directly in the CS:GO main menu.
Once you have bought the pass you will find it in your CS:GO Inventory. After activation you will find a bronze operation coin in your inventory.

Why shouldn't you? Of course you do not have to upgrade the coin. But when you buy the Operation Hydra pass you can try to get the most out of it. A gold or diamond coin looks better than a bronze or silver coin. Additionally collection Operation XP will get you extra drops.

When you complete a Guardian mission, you'll earn Guardian XP. You can replay a Guardian mission as often as you like, but can only earn Guardian XP from the mission once.

You can earn Event XP by participating in weekly Hydra Events. Each player starts with a limited pool of 2000 available Event XP, and the pool increases by 2000 XP each week (up to 36,000 XP). You can earn available Event XP all at once, or slowly over time. Don't worry if you've missed a few weeks or have started late - every player can earn the same maximum Event XP.

Please note: Up until the Update released on September 21st some people reported that they got less Hydra Event XP after several Hydra Event games (message on scoreboard: "Event XP exhausted"). Apparently this was a bug that got fixed.

Whenever you collect enough Event XP to earn an Operation Star you will receive an item, alternating between a Operation Hydra Case and an Operation weapon drop. Additionally, whenever you collect enough Guardian XP to earn an Operation Star, you will receive an Operation weapon drop.

If you earned a regular drop in the match where you earned your Star, complete another match to get your Operation item. Operation weapon drops will come from one of the following Operation Collections: Cobblestone, Cache, Overpass, Gods and Monsters, The Rising Sun, and Chop Shop.

A total of 16 Operation weapon drops and 9 Operation Hydra Cases can be earned by completing Guardian missions and participating in events.

No. You will get a special Rank. Your Rank will be displayed on the end of a Wingman match in a bar below your profile rank progress bar.



Explanation:



The dots right of your rank display your progress. e.g. When you are on rank 4 and have one dot you will have to fill up two dots to rank up to rank 5.
However, this stil lis only an estimate when a rankup will occur since you can get 1 or 2 dots filled with a win. So ranking up to 5 from 4-1 will take one or two wins.

Please note: These ranks aren't compareable to competitive match making ranks. You won't be able to downrank from rank 1-5 once you reach them.
