Description
A tiny metal coffin that revolutionized tank warfare

While absolutely unmissable in a WW1 tank collection, it was made at first a long time ago (the mk I version was my second upload!). Therefore I decided to redo the FT-17. Although much of the original size is kept, nearly everything is edited.

Improvements over the FT-17 MKII
- tracks break less often, and made it harder for the tracks to slide off
- enhanced the controls to my recent approaches
- made the cannon look like the real SA-18 37mm cannon
- the backside of the tank does now actually look like the back of a real FT
- added skins
- smoothened the turret turning, as well reducing the cannon recoil on it
- made the first person camera rotate along with the cannon rotation (in height)
- changed the blocks on the outsides of the track to make it more look like the FT ones
- scaled the tracks for better visual experience
- added cool shovel and exhaust
- while still maintaining its low block count (323) for smooth and fast experience!

About the FT-17
The Renault FT was a light tank designed by the french during world war 1. Whilst being a poorly armored and absolutely not being equipped to battle other tanks, it was a very effective tank. the revolutionary idea of a fully rotating turret made this tank being considered as the first "modern" tank. The FT was operated by 2 men, one driver and one gunner/commander. During the war, the french experimented with different kind of weaponry in the tank. At first, it was only equipped by a machine gun, but later models had a 37mm cannon (that was due its short barrel, and small diameter unsuitable for tank combat). During and after the war numerous other countries also used the FT (including the Sovjet union and the United states). At the outbreak of the second world war, the FT has become obsolete for real combat and was only used as a training vehicle.

Controls
move tank: [ARROWKEYS]* (exhaust ignited when moving forward)
rotate turret left / right: [J / L]
rotate cannon up / down:
tension tracks: [H]
Fire cannon: [.]
cameras (first - third): [F]
make sure to rate this upload and if you want more interesting builds, check out my workshop!

NOTES
*tracks will jam shortly when first accelerating. Also on could use [UP]++ to increase forward speed, but makes the tank more "bumpier".

Thanks! I have on more (french) ~WW1 project upcoming, but cannot say when it will be finished. Whilst I have never thought about the whippet due the low functionality, it might become a future project. the Mark VII however looks for me to much like the Mark V (in fact they are the same, but the Mark VII has a longer end).

you make the most amazing ww1 tanks and i'm sad that thre are only a few more tanks from ww1 to do. I was currious if you could maybe do the old whippet or mark VII (7). that would be amazing unless you are working on something else and stoped doing the ww1 tanks witch is fine but i would love to see if you could do it:steamhappy:

There is a mod to create tank tracks, but I just use hinges scaled (using easyscale mod) and nicely alligned (thanks to the TGYD BT) with metal plates on them.
