Intentional, was trying to match placements to that of the old game.

I agree that perhaps they should be put under the wings at the protected curve, but flaws make it fun. I want to stick to the "just good enough" type of design so that people who come across it and all can improve and work on the designs to make them suit their needs/wants.

In practice, usually one side gets damaged but it's still enougb to support the ship for awhile, and by the time theres power issues the ships mostly destroied, heh heh.

i feel that the location of the heatsinks is rather poor, don't they get shot off when placed along the wings there?
