Defiant Class Fighter

The Defiant class fighters came about as the need for better armed ships rose. The Type 1 conversions were jsut barely adequate, however with the rejuvination of the Earth Starfleet, new ships were needed to confront the ever growing threat of Piracy, and alien worlds. The Defiants feature dual gatling guns, as well as dual rocket tubes, which can easily match any contemporary foe. Armor is lighter, however, as they rely on speed instead to avoid damage, however all Defiant ships are fitted with shield generators. These greatly increase survival chance against larger ships, and have proven their worth on several skirmishes.
