Sol Class Battlecruiser

The Sol class Battlecruisers were developed around the same time as the A-class ships were being built. Only when the first of the B-class cruisers were being built, was the Sol class finally laid down. Once built however, the Sol was presented as the newest Fleet ship, and developed with the latest of improvements, including a vast shuttlebay, four shield generators, and improved gatling and missile turrets. They were twice as long as the B-class, more powerful, and better at accelerating and decelerating. However her ponderous nature excluded manuverability, and interior funishings. The class was also known as the Washington class, due to the second ship, the Wasington, being finished trials First, as the Sol was used as a testbed for improvements. Overall, only four were built, including the Alpha Centauri, and the Orion. Only the Sol and Alpha Centauri survived to be decommisioned, and their service life was 60 years, of which 22 were together with the B-class.
