Biome Tribes

Description
First iteration of a mod designed to give the player a higher degree of meaningful customization of his character. Biome Tribes adds six 'tribes,' each of which confers a set of permanent perks on the player.

The tribes cover three general roles - combatants (Badlands, Tundra), explorers (Coastal, Forest), and generalists (Desert, Jungle).

Badlands Tribe

The Badlands Tribe hails from the sulfuric peaks and valleys of all the blasted lands of Ark - its volcanoes and lava flows. This tribe is brutish and hearty, and they make excellent guardians. They always spawn with a club.

Bonuses:
Fortitude +++
Health ++
Special: Grit (minor damage resistance, immune to dilophosaur spit and swamp fever)

Coastal Tribe

The Coastal Tribe sticks to the beaches and oceans of the Arks. They're the best-equipped of the tribes to go underwater, and when in danger can often lose pursuers in the deeps. They always spawn with a spear.

Bonuses:
Stamina +++
Oxygen ++
Special: Merfolk (Increased swim speed, reduced aggro from mantas and sharks)

Desert Tribe

The Desert Tribe members are survivalists from Ark's scorched plains. They're jacks-of-all-trades, usually having to eke out existence without help from allies. They always spawn with a waterskin.

Bonuses:
Weight +++
Stamina +, Fortitude +
Special: Resourceful (Passive stamina regen, reduced food/water consumption)

Forest Tribe

The Forest Tribe flit in and out of the trees of the Arks' dense woodlands. Their speed and cunning make them excellent support members in small groups. They always spawn with a slingshot.

Bonuses:
Stamina +++
Movement Speed ++
Special: Ally (Increased crafting skill, ally health regen)

Jungle Tribe

The most common of Ark's tribes, the Jungle Tribe can be found almost everywhere, and their ubiquity means that they're at least capable in almost every situation. They always spawn with a stone hatchet.

Bonuses:
Weight +++
Movement Speed +, Health +
Special: Stealthy (Harder for enemy creatures to see)

Tundra Tribe

Like their brethren from the molten hills of the Ark, the Tundra Tribe members are rugged survivalists. This beefy tribe is the most capable of jumping into the fray with a sword or pike. They always spawn with a torch.

Bonuses:
Fortitude +++
Melee Damage ++
Special: Acclimated (Small torpor resistance and innate insulation)

At level 1, all players may craft individual tribe sigils. Once crafted, the player must use the item to join a tribe. Tribes can be reset using a crafted reset sigil. Once a reset sigil is used, players will be unable to join a new tribe for a fixed time (currently two hours).

Tribes are permanent! Players cannot reset the tribe without crafting a Reset Sigil.

Item codes for the various sigils are below:

I'd like to say this is an absolute amazing mod, thanks for the great work. Also i'd like to bring up a suggestion I saw in these comments that would be a great addition to this mod!

This person's suggestion here would be absolutely f****ing amazing! With a config option to disable it if people don't like it.

@Wyrd

Currently a fan of the desert tribe, but....

Aberrant Tribe?
- Decreased thirst/water consumption
- Melee damage boost
- Radiation resist
- Maybe even a little charge-ability? Cave stealth (Rock Drake tribe!)? Glowy Tats?
;)

If you aren't working on this mod anymore tho, would you make it open source so other's can expand on this mod? let me know!

This is best for multiplayer, you pick a tribe and get bonuses for specific things depending on the tribe you joined.
It doesn't create NPC's or anything like that

do they build their own bases?
