LW2 Jaeger Class

Description
This mod adds a custom class called the Jaeger.

The Jaeger is a class based around the concept of a versatile rifleman equipped with an Assault Rifle or SMG and a Combat Knife as secondary weapon. The Jaeger can also equip a Shotgun for increased effectiveness at close quarters when necessary.

The Pointman side of the ability tree focuses on leading the squad from the front when not concealed and builds around the Jaeger’s squaddie ability First Contact which gives the Jaeger a 25% chance of taking a reaction fire shot against any enemies as they are revealed. The rest of the abilities on this side of the tree help the Jaeger close with the enemy and improve First Contact with extra damage and an increased chance of triggering.

The Light Infantry side of the tree moulds the Jaeger into a rifleman who whilst not as durable as the Ranger on the frontline will thrive on the flanks. The Jaeger can stay mobile with Stamina using Death From Above and Low Profile to maximise positioning, provide accurate and reliable firepower with Rapid Fire and Headshot whilst digging enemies out of high cover with Designated Marksman.

The centre of the ability tree provides some utility abilities along with some abilities to maximise the Combat Knife both for protection with Combatives and brutal melee damage with Twist the Blade.

The perk trees are listed below with descriptions added to any perks made by myself.

Perks

First Contact – Each time an enemy is revealed there is a 25% chance to take a free overwatch shot as long as you have enough ammo. Will trigger once per enemy.

Knife Fighter

Mountaineer – You get +10 defence against enemies at a lower elevation.

Pointman

Lightning Reflexes

Bounding Fire - Any shot taken as your second action after moving as your first confers a +10 aim bonus.

Spearhead - Gain 25% bonus damage against enemies who are hit by First Contact fire.

Run And Gun

Lookout - Increase the chance of First Contact triggering on each revealed enemy from 25% to 50%.

Tactical Sense

Tempest Fire - Fire your weapon at every visible enemy within 10 tiles. 4 turn cooldown, 3 ammo cost.

Centre

Combatives

Brute Strength - All melee attacks deal +2 extra damage and have +10 Aim.

Skirmisher - When you use a turn-ending ability with your first action, you may move afterwards.

Lone Wolf

Twist The Blade - A ferocious melee attack dealing critical damage and ensuring that the target takes an additional +3 damage from all attacks in the future.

Aggression

Low Profile

Stamina - Intense conditioning confers +3 mobility.

Death From Above

Rapid Fire

Designated Marksman - You get +20 Aim against targets in full cover.

Against The Odds - Gain +3 Aim per enemy the squad can see (max +15).

Headshot - Special shot that has +100 crit chance and deals +5 damage on crit. 4 Turn cooldown.

Lastly and possibly most importantly for the creation of the Jaeger I would like to thank Shiremct, creator of the Field Medic class. His coding genius was absolutely vital for creating the Spearhead and Lookout abilities which build on First Contact. I could not have created these without his help so this it is hugely appreciated.

I hope people enjoy using this class and I welcome any feedback on bugs or balance.

I’d also like to note that I made this class mainly for my own enjoyment initially as I wanted something a touch different from the LW Ranger. If you have played with either of my other custom classes, the Operator and the Jackal then you may notice some overlap in terms of abilities and/or function between the classes. I have one more custom class in mind which I hope to make which is a bit different to these three and after that I intend to revamp the Jackal and Operator in order to release the four classes as a single pack. Whether I will get that done before the release of the expansion and how the expansion will affect custom class modding in terms of LW2 though I don’t know but we will see.

how can I make this guy viable for the base game? I have the lwskilltrees and stuff, but the middletree top and bottom most perk does not exist (knivefighter?) and the second skill (sq.) does not have an icon or any description

Now I'm confused lol. The scatter only happens when they see a soldier. So then it should work when they see the jaeger and scatter? Because that makes a stock pretty awesome. Not quite cool under pressure awesome but it still removes the aim penalty on a good stock, making sure those shots hit.
