Alma Mater

Description
Built for [UESC] Build Contest #38 - Colony Mothership

34869 blocks. None of the mods are structurally critical, but you would no longer have gates on the hangar, which for pure survival might not be that much of a disadvantage. Also, you might need to replace some blast door blocks. mainly in the lower hangar area (the rim of the lower pad), and in the upper hangar area (There's a section that allows for the piston to extend without touching the roof. All is easily replaced by vanilla blocks. Most mods are just for aesthetic purposes.

Alma Mater, or Nourishing Mother in Latin, is a large mothership built to travel to a distant star, with all exploration vessels docked onto it, including all raw materials needed to start a new, flourishing colony.
150 colonists can be carried onboard in cryo pods, and there are 50 crew pods.

Standard auxiliary craft complement would be:
- 2 Mistral Mini Scout ships
- 1 Crow Nest cargo hauler with detachable crew habitat
- 1 Scarab atmosphere-capable mobile manufacturing craft
- 1 Mallard personnel shuttle
- 2 Cargo Tugs or 2 Cargo modules, or a mix

-200-ish cry pods (divided between 150 colonists, +-50 crew, 6 officers)
-Colonists quarters and lounge area
-Crew quarters and lounge area
-Berths for 15 crew and 20 Colonists
-Production area: 4 refineries, 6 assemblers, 4 arc furnaces
-Construction area with an extendable welder array
-Large top hangar with lift and control station
-Lower hangar area for smaller craft
-2 small craft airlocks accessed from the lower area with the lift raised.
-7 universal docks for auxiliary craft
-2 docks for tugs or cargo containers
-Exterior landing pad
-Raw material drop-off point
-8 Gatling Turrets
-2 Missile turrets

-Large reactor room
-Solar backups for power and oxygen
-Major areas can be protected by armour gates
-All major buttons mapped
-Scripted LCD's (there are some buttons that can start the timer in case it doesn't auto-start, mainly close to the medbays.
-Airlocks are not scripted to ease the contest review , but all important gates and doors are named, the hangar vents are named and grouped, and LCD's are placed. It would be little work to get a scripted airlock system up and running.
-Contains glass, but also blast shields. :)

Here you go :) https://steamhost.cn/steamcommunity_com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=960144910

The vessel should paste without problems as a blueprint. Although it is a big 'un, so it does need some loading time.

can you make a world version? this seems like a ship thats a bit too big for a blueprint.

Well thought ;)

Thanks, Anthony!

I envisioned the Crow Nest to take the top dock, seeing as it has a dock on its 'foot'. And the Scarab can take the one at the back, seeing as its dock is above the bridge section. The scouts would go on the wing docks, either on the vertical ones, or tilted 90° on the horizontal ones. Beware to check the mods for those models when pasting them in. The Scout's vanilla, but the Crow Nets and Scarab might have one or two that the Alma Mater doesn't have. Again, I try to keep the mods non-structural.

That's a fantastic ship ! I was wondering, where should the Crow Nest, the Scarab and other auxiliary crafts dock ?
