During its only engagement, the prototype lance namesake of the class was one of a small number ships in orbit of pallas while under construction, when a small independent force of privateers believed to be funded by the USTA where sent to take the almost undefended asteroid, the lance was rushed to completion by the workers at the asteroid, as a nearby spear detachment was dispatched, but with limited d/v the privateer fleet would arrive almost 3 weeks before reinforcements.
