It isn't invisible walls, it's prison bars. One of their textures is missing/blank so you can treat them as invisible walls/obstacles to prevent players from going out somewhere, quite useful.

I was partly joking about this map being art, but the invisible walls are interesting.

People play games, so they use them rather than only sensing them as they would a painting. Watching a game video is only sensing a game, but playing one is using it. Most people use games to have fun as most people use pens to write. The rest depends on what you consider art. I don't have an answer to that.
