Cactaceae

Description
Overview

Cactaceae is a mod that adds a new race and some new recipes with the help of Humanoid Alien Races. This mod requires Humanoid Alien Races 2.0. Place this mod after the Humanoid Alien Races 2.0 mod in the modlist.

Cactoids - a tribal faction
Cactoid Migration - a scenario with Cactoids
Weapons - Long Needle and Blowgun items craftable by Cactoids
Furniture - decorative cactus plant
Farm Crop - Gold Agave planted by Cactoids that survives harsh conditions.

Cactoid Description

The Cactoids are the result of an abandoned genetic engineering experiment aimed at combining cactaceae DNA into the human genome. The purpose, to create a workforce able to withstand drier conditions for longer durations. It was met with some success. Chloroplast added to skin was able to provide very limited energy generation through photosythesis. The Cactoids were able to survive in more arid harsher environments. Spines in the skin helped defend against native fauna. A slower metabolism prolonged life expectency, but also limited the speed energy could be expended.

Unfortunately, the lone scientist, sent to a remote rim planet to perform his experiments in isolation, died unexpectedly from a brain parasite. Due to a clerical error, the location and even the existence of the geneticist was forgotten.

The Cactoids, abandoned to the whims of fate, somehow managed to survive and form a tribal society. Distrustful of others, but generally placid, the Cactoid tribes tend to keep to themselves unless provoked.

I made a simple 1.0 port. At the moment it's just a minor XML tweak to make Rimworld understand that it's a 1.0 compatible mod, but I have some ideas for changes or new features that I might add.

Can someone pick this up and update to 1.0? Really want this mod again, it goes great with any western theme

If this does get updated, It would be awsome to see the 'Sunlight' requirement from the plant/animals in AA added (no idea how hard that line would be to add to a race, just think it would be fun ^_^)

Hello - I been updating some older, seemingly abandoned mods to v1.0, and someone asked me to do this one. Anyone still there out there? If so, let me know if there is any objection to this.

I took tleilaxu's advice and just started the Cactoids in a 1.0 world. I've run for over a year with a heavy mod list. I can't see any errors so far. Oddly, no errors pop up on load either. One of them got pregnant (Children) and the world has a robust Cactoid nation acting the same as the humans (Faction Control), so the mod seems to be playing nice with others. It's a shame if the mod is orphaned.

I too could not wait for the 1.0 update and decided to ignore the version incopatibility warning. I have not experienced any problem with this mod in 1.0 so far. But I have not done any surgery or prosthetics.

This mod is one of the pivotal mods of my western themed set, can't wait for 1.0!

I'm looking forward to the Cactoids wandering into 1.0. As always, this is my favorite mod. Thank you!
