i changed the level a bit.

I just tried the level again, got the turrent with blue paint, put the ball into the holder, portaled up into the white room, connected the laser, and this time a panel opened in the wall of the white room - that had never happened before, and the door to the white room did not close this time either. When I left the room, I found a new panel open by the the base of the repulser beam too.. also never happened before. Have now completed the level.

I don't know how you got it with the laser, but whatever problems you had shouldn't exist. And I really don't know why it's closing.

Not sure what you mean. I removed the turrent one of 3 ways - by coating the cube in blue stuff and throwing it in and waiting - by coating the turrent in blue paint using portals - and by setting fire to the turrent with the laser. In all three cases, after I portaled into the white room and then directed the laser into the receiver, the door behind me closed and I was trapped in there.

Did you clean the cube that opened it? The turret might have bounced into also.

I seem to be stuck in the white room.. perhaps I'm missing something, but the entrance I used to get in closed up when I connected the laser, and it doesn't re-open when I disconnect it
