BUG FIXES

○ Previously, upon losing their last city or Settler, a new Venetian Settler would spawn. This was unintentional, and should now occur much less frequently.

EXPLANATION

The consensus was that the War Galley was underpowered. Either its strength was too low or it was unlocked too late. It should still be stronger than the Quadrireme, and unique as a naval siege unit, but will occur early enough to be useful.

Given the ease of acquiring Great People and the relative scarcity of Great Work slots, the Fondaco's capacity has been increased to 4.

EXPLANATION

Many people voiced many reasons for wanting the ability to capture Settlers, whereas comparaitively few people have celebrated the inability to capture Settlers.

Dandolo received the largest suite of changes. Many people disliked the levy discount, citing it being unuseful and derivative, so it was removed. In place of it, Dandolo has two new perks. The naval production ability is like the levy discount in that it's meant to allow Venice to field a military force that's large for its size. It also increases the importance of the coast for Venice. Thematically, it captures the fact that Dandolo oversaw the construction and outfitting of hundreds of ships over the course of a single year in preparation for the Fourth Crusade. Dandolo now also receives a large (it maybe decreased in the future) influence gain every time he advances into a new era. Like the levy discount, this will increaseDandolo's access to units that are not his own.

Mudas now provide a little more gold than they did in the past. I always intended for the player to rely on gold purchases to balance for the lack of build queues, and I intended for the player to balance the benefits of purchasing a unit or building against the benefits of saving for a Great Person. Increasing Muda gold should make these opportunity costs a little less tough though. Mudas also had their production cost increased to account for the fact that everytime Venice builds a Muda, it is also, for all purposes, building a University, Bank, Temple and Art Museum. I may increase the cost to 50 in the future.

BALANCE ADJUSTMENTS

○ Patronage discount reduced from 50% to 33%. Original discount was balanced around not receiving faith from trade routes; the inclusion of extra faith made it a little too easy to buy Great People.

○ War Galley bombard strength reduced from 40 to 35. It now has the same bombard strength as a catapult with the advantage of a naval vessel's mobility, but it will be harder now to take a city with a single Galley and War Galley duo.
