History of Viação Cometa SA
In 1937, Dr. Arthur Brandi, a land surveyor who was to be Major Tito's brother-in-law, was building a settlement in the Jabaquara region, but he had difficulty selling the land because it was a distant neighborhood and there was no transportation to the center of São Paulo. To leverage sales, the only feasible solution was to create and operate a bus line connecting Jabaquara and Praça da Sé. Tito Mascioli assumed the challenge.

At the time, the system of urban bus concessions worked more or less like the current taxi regime. Then, six licenses were bought and with them was born an urban bus company, Auto Viação Jabaquara S.A.

Entrepreneur, Tito Mascioli soon realized that there was a great future in the field of passenger transportation and started to pay great attention to the sector. In a short time, the Auto Viação Jabaquara S.A. became the largest urban bus company in São Paulo, controlling 40% of the collective transportation of the city, with exemplary quality in the services provided.

The business went well, both in real estate and transportation, but on March 9, 1947, with the creation of C.M.T.C. (Municipal Company of Collective Transport), the Auto Viação Jabaquara S.A. was taken over. Tito Mascioli came to occupy the position of Director Treasurer of C.M.T.C. for a short time, but he was not even able to receive any compensation.

However, Tito Mascioli was already fascinated by working with passenger transport, and in 1947 he acquired Companhia Autoviação São Paulo-Santos Ltda., Which was incorporated on February 2, 1943. On February 17, 1948, the company began to if you call Auto Viação São Paulo-Santos SA and on May 7, 1948 had its denomination changed to Viação Cometa S.A.

The name of Viação Cometa came from the design that already existed on the side of the buses of Empresa Auto Viação São Paulo-Santos Ltda. The original colors of the comet, blue and beige, were inspired by a porcelain set in which Ilmo. Maj. Tito Mascioli and his wife had tea in Europe.
