2.2 Update (Difficulty selection added)

This update adds a difficulty selection for levels 4 and onward, I didn't add this feature for the first 3 levels as they were tutorial missions and weren't meant to be challenging. At the start of maps 4-final the player has a choice between two difficulties, Normal mode and Challenger mode. Challenger mode keeps the levels as they currently are as they were designed to be difficult for myself to complete. Normal mode lowers the difficulty by reducing the skill levels of numerous wondering heroes, increasing the time for certain events, adding extra starting units as well as neutrals, and disabling scripts meant to give your enemies an advantage.

2.1 patch

Removed secret levels and levels with special bonuses. This change was made because the bonus versions of certain levels were visible when progressing through the campaign, clearly indicating which level had a secret map hidden within. Where secret levels were originally unlocked, have now been turned into super secrets that will give the player great rewards for uncovering. The Secret maps themselves have been repurposed as bonus missions that are now part of the main campaign progression, completing them will grant the player a bonus that will carry over into every following mission.

Moonbrushwood update
I have changed around the triggers to fix a couple of major issues. Juggernauts should no longer spawn in constantly and the ending battle should no longer soft lock if some of the party members are captured.

2.0 changelog (mirthshire to Skybid Trill)

-An alternate version of Mirthshire has been added based on a cut level from Dungeon Keeper.

Blaise End:
-This level has been changed drastically from the previous version. Earlier versions played out more like the original DK1 version but with hero parties set on timers and extra events added. This iteration made the last half of the map where the player had to raid the fortress far too easy and boring since they could convert a large number of heroes during the first half of the stage.
-This new iteration starts the player without a portal and with limited resources. The player will have to explore and scavenge what they need while also trying to avoid alerting hero patrols.
-The main entrance to the hero fortress is now shielded, forcing the player to have to explore the east and west caverns by the fortress
-the gateway at the center along with the neutral wizards has been replaced with a manufacturing shrine with some neutral chunders. The walls surrounding the gateway can also be brought down with underminers instead of completing an event later in the stage.

Mistle:
-The older version of this level had the player locked out of many aspects and had to find and kill wizards to gain them back. I was fine with this mechanic as it was similar to the original DK1 version where the player had to steal spell books from the heroes. Unfortunately there was an annoying bug that caused the player to gain back all of these aspects automatically when reloading a save. This bug appears to be some conflict between the mutator settings and a script that I added to remove aspects from the player. The bug may also be present since this map was created with an earlier version of the game; I didn’t want to have to remake the entire level from scratch so I just changed things up a bit. The player is not just starved of a barracks and arena but an archive. The only way for the player to gain sins is to kill hero magic users like arcanists, matriarchs, wizards etc.
-The chamber with the Lord of the Land has several changes. Originally this was where the player would get the barracks but now it’s where you will get the archive. I’ve also added two crypts and spirit chambers for the player to claim as well as many high leveled spirits the player can use to instantly buff their minions; and lastly a handful of artifacts.
-artifacts earlier in the level have now been replaced with other goodies since the player doesn’t start with an archive in order to identify them.
-Rival Underlord is now walled off and won’t attack until the Lord of The Land is killed. This was done as he would attack far too early and easily defeat the player.
-The barracks, arena, spirit chamber, and archive are disabled within the mutator settings so both you and your rival cannot build them. The enemy dungeon has these rooms pre-built however.

Skybird Trill:
-The fake avatar is now a Lord of the Land instead of a buffed highgard and is now backed up by many sentinels
-The hero army at the end has been reduced. This was because the player would likely exhaust a lot of resources fighting the enemy underlord and not have enough for the final onslaught.
-more gold added around the players dungeon
-the player can no longer attract fire themes units like the molten scarg, chili chunders etc.
-bafu added back into the creature pool

Secret Level 4: Most of the wizards have been removed and replaced with other units. I felt that the wizards were really annoying in this level with their elemental army ability and the fact that they constantly retreat.

Buffed and scaled enemies have been removed due to an error where they would revert back to normal upon loading a save. Enemies intended as bosses will now appear in large groups and will be backed up by other tougher enemies.

2.0 Beta 4 Internal Update 8
Blaise end is finished, as mentioned in a mini update it will play differently than the original. A change I feel is for the better as the remake pre 2.0 just wasn't working.

Update: 11 Jul, 2023 @ 1:15pm

micro patch: this should fix an issue where players couldn't continue to level 4.
