v1.4

  • Coil buffed to be a proper saved action ability - the first rifle shot taken on the turn following Coil now only uses one action point without ending the Viper's turn.
  • Added new (standard) research breakthroughs for Viper Rifles with custom flavor text.
  • Added two Photobooth poses! Proof-of-concept for now, will need to find some time to make a proper set of poses later. But will at least make Vipers look nicer in posters.
  • Added a new config option. Enabling AdditionalBindTargets will let the Viper's Tongue Pull and Bind and Crush abilities to affect any non-robotic normal-sized unit. Primarily for use with mods adding multiple alien enemies. Disabled by default because many targets will not have an appropriate bound animation and T-pose instead.

  • Poison Spit damage is no longer blocked by enemy armor (that was rather silly)
  • Changed how modifications to Poison Spit were handled in the source code. Purely behind-the-scenes stuff.
  • Release Bind command is now a free action if action points are available.
  • Unusable vanilla abilities should no longer be randomly generated as Training Center abilities.

  • Fixed issue with floating hacking tablet. Needed to create a copy of the unit models and animations, so the file size jumped up a bit.
  • Fixed Frost Breath animation. Now expels a proper cloud of freezing mist with appropriate freezing particle effects.
  • Viper Rifle upgrades are now acquired with Assault Rifle upgrades instead of Sniper Rifle upgrades. Does not apply retroactively - see warning below.

WARNING FOR EXISTING CAMPAIGNS: The upgrade tree tweak does not apply to existing weapon schematics, and may cause an upgrade line to get skipped! If you have already purchased an Assault Rifle build in one weapon tier from the Workshop, but not the Sniper Rifle upgrade in that tier, please make sure to change UseAssaultRifleSchematic in XComViperSkills.ini to false. You can change this back to true after purchasing the Sniper Rifle upgrade.

v1.1
A few buffs for stronger mid- and late- game performance, especially against heavily armored mechanical units.

  • Death Adder now rounds its damage bonus up, giving it an extra point of damage for odd HP values.
  • Thermal Sense now also grants +2 armor piercing against armored enemies if they are not behind cover. This is a little strong for a GTS tactic, but is meant to compensate for late-game damage loss due to inability to use special ammo. Might consider making this a separate tactic at some point in the future.
  • Poison Spit and Frost Breath now only share half their cooldowns, reducing spit downtime.
