Hotfix 2.7.5
  • Removed the interface file for the disabled holding conversion system.

Update: 30 Sep, 2020 @ 6:12am

Hotfix 2.7.4
  • Fixed major performance issue. The holding conversion system added in 2.7.0 has been removed for now. It was functional, but Paradox changed something in their 1.1.1 patch that caused issues with it.
  • The legacy "Convert Holding to Metropolis" decision is now enabled by default.

Update: 29 Sep, 2020 @ 9:55am

Patch 2.7.3
  • Updated for the 1.1.1 patch. If you want to use COW2 with 1.0.3 you should use v18 on Paradox Mods[mods.paradoxplaza.com], or the COW2_offline_103 attached to COW2's forum thread[forum.paradoxplaza.com].
  • Removed the fix I had applied for the Sicilian Parliament. Paradox have fixed the previous issue with it, and they decided to keep it as a special building.

Update: 28 Sep, 2020 @ 4:07am

Hotfix 2.7.2
  • Readjusted the localization for the newly added Game Rule.
  • You might have to resubscribe for this update to apply.
Patch 2.7.1
  • Added in a game rule named "COW: Holding Conversion" which allows you to tweak the options for the convert holding feature. You can now restrict the holding conversion feature to only Metropolis holdings, or you can ban the feature completely for example.
  • Re-enabled the old "Convert Holding to Metropolis" feature as a legacy decision available via a game rule for it.
  • You might have to resubscribe for this update to apply.
Alternatively, try to reload your installed mods via the Paradox Launcher.
If you experiences issues when you load your save games after a COW2 update, make sure that both the Workshop and Paradox Launcher have updated and loaded the mod properly. COW2 must always be enabled and loaded properly for save games already used with COW2.
  1. You can do this simply by starting a new game with COW2 enabled, and check if all the Metropolis holdings are present in Alexandria, Antioch, Baghdad, Constantinople, Cordoba, Roma, and Jerusalem.
  2. You can also access the construct a new holding interface and see if the Metropolis holding is there along with Castle, City, and Temple holding.
  3. If you discover any issues, try resubscribing to the mod.

Patch 2.7.0

  • By the courtesy of Lrds, I have been allowed to integrate Flexible Holding Types' superior method of converting holdings into COW2. While some parts of it has been reworked, all credits of course go to Lrds for this feature.
  • The unfortunate downside of the integration mentioned above is that all mods that alters the county view interface in any way will be incompatible with COW2 from now on. This includes mods like Flexible Holding Types or Buyable Building Slot.
  • The positive benefits however are that you can click directly at the holding and click on the tiny button besides the terrain indicator to convert any holding in your realm to a Metropolis holding for 9,500 gold. You can also choose to convert any holding in a county you personally hold to either castle, city, or temple for 500 gold. The AI is not able to convert any holding.
  • The old "Convert Holding to Metropolis" decision has been disabled.
  • Previously, you were only able to convert a holding to a Metropolis in the counties you personally held. This restriction has been removed since it has become much easier to choose any of the individual holdings you want to convert. However, the old restriction is still applied for the newly added conversions to castle, city, or temple holdings.
  • Reduced the cost of converting an existing holding to a Metropolis holding from 14,000 gold down to 9,500 gold. It was unintentionally much cheaper to build a brand new Metropolis holding rather than converting an existing holding.
  • Added a Metropolis holding to Kiev for the 1066 start date only.

Patch 2.6.3
  • Restricted all of the found/convert Metropolis decisions, now the tribal government can no longer use them. The ability to make Metropolis holdings wasn't meant for tribals, since tribals can’t hold a Metropolis without penalties.
  • Removed the Metropolis holding in Granada at the 867 start date. It was only meant to be present in 1066.
  • Fixed the vanilla bug that caused the vanilla universities to not give the education trait benefits which was stated in the code. The education effect increases the chance that a child will get a better education trait when the child comes of age. Also fixed was the character interactions so that all the education interactions (Educate Child, Offer Ward, and Offer Guardianship) will give the education effect. For it to apply the educator must be the holder of the holding containing the university building. Keep in mind that the education effect from the universities are very rarely stated in-game, so most of the time it completely works behind the scenes. Credits goes to Arumba for discovering and solving this issue.
  • The Metropolis universities will now give the same positive education trait effect as the vanilla universities. For it to apply the educator must be the holder of the holding containing the university building. Libraries will not give the education effect. Keep in mind that the education effect from the universities are very rarely stated in-game, so most of the time it completely works behind the scenes. Some of these changes including the point above will not work if any other mod alters the same files.

Update: 19 Sep, 2020 @ 11:51am

Patch 2.6.2
  • Metropolis holdings now gets development growth in their main building chain. Metropolises are now meant to naturally increase development in their regions.
  • Reduced the starting stages for Baghdad, Constantinople and Cordoba. From Metropolis III down to Metropolis I. They were a bit too powerful, in the 867 start date especially.
  • Added in the Sicilian Parliament as a possible building for the Metropolis holding, which I neglected to do in the last patch. The Parliament is still only available for those that have used the Empower Sicilian Parliament decision.

Update: 14 Sep, 2020 @ 4:59am

Patch 2.6.1
  • Fixed a minor localization issue which could cause the Metropolises' Forest Forts to be mislabeled as Elephantry or Elephant Pens.
  • Fixed a vanilla bug that prevented the construction of the Parliament building from the Empower Sicilian Parliament decision. I turned the Parliament into a regular building, and this should fix things retroactively in theory.Edit: It currently doesn't work retroactively because the Parliament must be added as a possible building to the holdings in question (Castle and Metropolis).
  • Added in some custom localization to clarify the restriction for building the unique Metropolis buildings. For the vast majority of the unique Metropolis buildings to be buildable, the Metropolis holding must at least be at stage 4 in the main building chain of the Metropolis holding (Metropolis I).
  • Removed all the English placeholder localizations for the official Paradox supported languages.

Update: 13 Sep, 2020 @ 12:47pm

Patch 2.6.0
  • Added in a minor decision which allows you to convert any of your counties' existing holdings to Metropolises. Only holdings in the counties you personally are the holder of are eligible for conversion.
