Update: 15 Dec, 2024 @ 2:50pm

Updates as needed for compatibility with 3.14.

Update: 25 Aug, 2024 @ 9:52am

- Enabled the Tactician and Advanced Tactician computers for Nanite and Cosmogenesis ships.

Update: 25 Aug, 2024 @ 9:44am

Bug Fixes
- Added provisions for specializations on Cosmogenesis and Nanite ships.
- Minor changes for compatibility with 3.12.5.

Update: 11 May, 2024 @ 9:23am

Updates as necessary for compatibility with version 3.12.1.

Bug Fixes
- Fixed Ion Cannon weapon costing zero power.
- Removed Tactician computer from military stations.

Design/Balance Changes
- Defense Platform "XL" section has been deprecated. (A note about deprecated sections, below)
- Destroyer "Guided Stern" (G-Slot) and "Hangar Bow" deprecated.
- Destroyer "Explosive" combat computer replaced with "Swarm" combat computer.
--- This allows the Destroyer to more effectively use non-explosive short range weapons, such as Autocannons, and reserves the explosive computer for the true specialist (Frigates).
- Add one extra auxiliary slot to Frigates.
- Reduced damage from the Concussion/Gemini Torpedo weapons.
- Twin Autocannon weapon series deprecated.
--- With the recent-ish changes in the Vanilla game, these weapons felt redundant and lacked a clear role.
- Stalker/Goliath Point Defense M-slot weapon deprecated and replaced with a P-slot version.
--- The new P-slot version has long range and only targets missiles and torpedoes.
- Increased cost and upkeep for strike craft.
- Changed AI to focus more on anti-strike craft weapons vs anti-missile weapons.

** Deprecated sections are still enabled and will still function, but can no longer be built with new designs. This should preserve compatibility with older saves.

Update: 30 Dec, 2023 @ 9:50pm

Minor change to Crisis ship components:
- Replaced Unbidden "Stellarite Torpedo" with a slightly weaker version, "Warp Torpedo", due to extremely high damage output.
- Replaced the Large ED Weapon of Abarrant fleets with a special ED Arc Emitter, making all three extradimensional crisis types meaningfully different to fight against.

Update: 22 Dec, 2023 @ 8:49pm

Balance Changes
- Frigate ECM Aura effect reduced from -25% sublight speed, -10% accuracy to -10% sublight speed, -5% accuracy, -10% tracking.
Dev note: Despite my best efforts, the ECM Aura was actually affecting the entire system, not a range of 80 as stated. This made the aura too strong in many situations.
- Frigate ECM Aura cost increased from 100 alloys to 300 alloys.
Dev note: This makes ECM Frigates vulnerable targets based on their cost.
- Shock Cannon and Perdition Beam firing arc increased to 90 degrees.
- Many (not all) XL and L weapons firing arc increased to 90 degrees.
Dev note: This only affects weapons placed in fixed mounts (Battleship Spinal Mount and Titan Spinal Mount).
- Shock Cannon accuracy increased from 80% to 90%, and range increased from 220 to 240.
- Reduced bonuses from the Advanced Tactician Computer.
Dev note: Since the Tactician computers provide such a huge combat advantage if used properly, I felt the generous stat bonuses were unnecessary.

And here's the one I want feedback on:
- Added an armor and shield bonus (15%) for each Photon Blaster, Photon Cannon, Tactical Ion Cannon, Heavy Autocannon, Heavy Ultra Autocannon, or High-Velocity Penetrator installed on a ship.
Dev note: Despite their high damage output, I find these heavy short range weapons very hard to use late game, which is dominated by long range engagements. The intent is to provide a niche for these types of weapons.

Update: 9 Dec, 2023 @ 12:11pm

- Fixed a typo that may have caused the Elite hull point bonus to not apply to Battleships.
- Minor localization typo corrections.
- Reviewed for compatibility for 3.10.3.

Update: 3 Dec, 2023 @ 4:01pm

Bug Fixes
- Fixed a bug that could cause combat modifiers to "stick" if fighting in a system with environmental effects.

General
- Added a 2nd Point Defense slot to the Cruiser stern section, "Point Defense Stern".

Update: 1 Dec, 2023 @ 7:41pm

General
- Updates as necessary for 3.10.2.

New Features
- New repeatable physics tech, "Improved Small Weapons". Can be researched 3 times, each tier giving +10% small weapons damage across all ships. This is intended to make small weapons more viable in the late stages of the game. Intentionally, there are not equivalent repeatable techs for the other weapon sizes.
- Enabled the use of the Shock Cannon on the Ion Cannon Defense Station.
- Increased the firing arc of the Shock Cannon to 60 degrees, enabled by a special gimbal mount.

Other
- Minor coding change that should improve mod compatibility (no longer overwrites the Vanilla file 00_ship_sizes).
- Updated descriptions for some of the new weapons and specializations.

Update: 21 Nov, 2023 @ 8:05pm

General
- Updates as necessary for 3.10.0.

New Features
- New Tier 3 Point Defense weapon, "Phalanx". Excellent against strike craft, terrible against armor (including missiles).
- New Specialization, "Lancer", for Destroyers and Cruisers. Faster movement, more damage, cooldown penalty. Use with the Tactician computer and heavy weapons for a "hit and run" tactic.

Balance Changes
- Changed the Mega Cannon XL weapon from tier 4 to tier 3, with stats adjusted accordingly. Note: I found the Mega Cannon and Giga Cannon to be too closely spaced together in the tech tree, making the Mega Cannon trivial. This will make it a tactical choice earlier in the game.
- Marksman Battleship Specialization now also provides +25% range bonus.
- Decreased the regen rate of all strike craft by 4x, but increased the health of strike craft by 4x. This should make Carriers less "peaky" where strike craft would grow in quantity uncontrollably. Feedback welcome.
