Update v2024.3 (August 2024)

NEW FEATURES:

* RECENT LAPS LIST
- in Race Mode players can now view up to 20 of their most recent laps
- the button appears once a player has done at least two timed laps

* TWEAKED SELECTION GIZMO
- now includes axis labels (X, Y, and Z)
- no longer has collision with player

* PLAYER JOIN MESSAGES
- A random humorous message is displayed whenever a player joins

NEW FEATURES:

* EDIT EDGE OBJECTS
- add, move, rotate and delete edge objects using mouse, buttons, input fields and player
- 1 level of undo for deleting edge objects
- reset an object while editing
- selection 'gizmo' to help with editing

* CREATE & EDIT TRACK DECORATION (DECO) OBJECTS
- add, move, rotate, duplicate and delete deco objects using mouse, buttons, keyboard and player
└─ use both global and local coordinates
- 1 level of undo for deleting deco objects
- reset an object while editing
- change 'static', 'visible' and 'trigger' attributes of deco objects
- special origin point indicators to help with mouse selection
- selection 'gizmo' to help with editing

* RACE START COUNTDOWN
- the host can activate the optional "Start Countdown" feature
- a 5 second countdown to the race begins
- when the countdown reaches zero player's can cross the line to start their race
- any player crossing the start line before the countdown gets to zero:
└─ gets a false start message
└─ needs to go back and re-cross the start line for their race to start

* RANDOMIZED CAR HORN
- while in a seat press the "right shift" key to play a random sound
- randomly chooses from 12 sounds
- spam protected with 2 second delay before it plays another sound

FIXES & OTHER CHANGES:

* fixed occasional missing edge objects when creating a track
* removed unusable objects from object lists
* fixed mine trigger being somewhat hittable (using trigger boxes as a workaround for TM collision bug)
* fixed mine explosion being silent (added additional SFX as workaround for TM audio bug)

Update v2024.1 (May 2024)

NEW FEATURES:

* NEW RACING MODE - DRIFT MODE!
- while a driver is racing the mod can detect when drivers are drifting based on certain adjustable parameters
- these parameters are minimum time, minimum angle of drift and minimum speed and can be changed by the host
- if the player starts drifting the mod shows a drift meter in the info hud to indicate how close each drift is to being awarded
- each drift is given a quality score and these are added up and updated live for the driver
- there is a chain bonus added to the score if a driver completes three consecutive unbroken drifts (3x quality score of 3rd drift in chain)
- at the end of a race a driver's final drift score and the drift tally are shown
- Drift Mode can be turned on and off in the settings

* IMPROVED TRACK CREATION - new systems to make track edges much smoother:
- laying a track now uses a player's movement direction (bearing) instead of a player's rotation
- angle and proximity detection to somewhat reduce bunching of side objects on the inside of tight corners

* NEW TRACK SIDE >>>>> DIRECTION ARROWS <<<<<
- created automatically in corners when making a track with edges
- they are height adjustable and can be hidden

* TRAILMAKERS RESPAWN/TELEPORT SYSTEM
- Teleport/Respawn at startline area
- Teleport/Respawn at finishline area
- can bring a player's structure with them
- can be the default Trailmakers respawn in the map

* RANDOMIZED STARTING GRID SPOTS
- Drivers randomly assigned one of 8 grid spots after a track is loaded or created

* RACE INFO HUD shown in the bottom right corner of screen (persistant screen message)

* BLOCK OR ALLOW BUILDER MODE IN RACES - blocked by default (race setting)

* BLOCK OR ALLOW REPAIRING IN RACES - allowed by default (race setting)

* FILE LIST SYSTEM for loading your tracks, presets and autosaves

* CUSTOM ICONS FOR SCREEN MESSAGES including showing each player their own checkpoint marker

FIXES & OTHER CHANGES:

* FIXED CHECKPOINTS:
- added option to make all checkpoints 'thicker' (Checkpoint Depth) to overcome the occasional failed checkpoint detection if player is moving very fast
- 3 options: 1m thick (original - fine for slower vehicles), 3m thick (default - good for faster vehicles), 5m thick (fatboi - good for jets, rockets, space ships)

* MULTIPLAYER HOST NOW HAS MORE CONTROL
- only the host can load/unload tracks, overwrite tracks or remove tracks from the load list
- the host player can assign the Track building tools to any connected client player
- the client tool holder may save, re-save and edit their created track but cannot overwrite any existing saves
- the client tool holder can release the tools back to host with a button
- the host can reclaim the tools at almost any time except:
└─ when the tool holder is creating or editing a track

* FILE SEARCH 'BEACON' FILE to find saved files more easily
- When the TCP mod runs it creates a tiny text file called "TCPBeacon" in your Steam userdata folder
- Use Windows File Explorer to search your Steam install drive (usually C: drive) with the term TCPbeacon
- When Windows finds that file, go it's location and all your saved files will be there

* IMPROVED AUTOSAVE SYSTEM
- now uses 10 re-usable slots per TM map instead of unlimited unique autosave files
- autosaves can be loaded from a list just like normal saved tracks

* NEW POPUP MESSAGES and various other little tweaks

KNOWN ISSUES
* Player checkpoint markers can partially collide with vehicle wheels and the player character (this is a TrailMakers bug affecting all mods)
└─ NEW: To reduce the effects of this issue checkpoint markers are now spawned higher up (only for checkpoints on the ground)
* in Multiplayer if a player joins the server while another player is laying a track the join pause may ruin the track
└─ I'm looking at some possible options to try to help with this but it's simply a result of the way mods work in multiplayer
└─ I may add some more advanced editing tools which would allow a player to fix a broken track

* possible fix for non-english region based bug causing failed loading of track files that have a comma as the decimal separator. These tracks should now load without needing to be hand edited first.

* map/level detection updated to include the "High Seas" map
* "Teleport to Start" in the "High Seas" map now requires leaving the seat first (avoids causing player death)

* map/level detection updated to new mod api system and levels now referred to as Base Maps (this fixes the issue where some workshop 'map mods' caused the loaded Trailmakers base level to show as "unknown")
