Hey! I'm back after 2 years!

Now that I want to create Chapter 2 of this campaign, I've decided to revisit this map to fix some of the issues it has and conduct a quality sweep.

The problem is that the map is plagued with a few fundamental issues.

Firstly, it's huge. This is causing compiling to take days on end. I think this is the main culprit of the crashes people are experiencing, as I'm forced to compile VIS on -fast. However, I will try to compile it normally and allow it a week to hopefully compile correctly in a future update.

Secondly, it has an awkward shape. In order to fit everything into the space I needed, the map is made in a 'U' shape. I believe this causes a few issues with lighting and nav meshes.

Thirdly, I'm clueless when it comes to scripting, meaning that the level is very repetitive, and it doesn't make use of the AI Director much.

Because of these reasons, I have made a few changes to the level to hopefully alleviate some of the crashes and allow people to experience the map. Other than that, I have decided to move on from this map and begin work on Chapter 2, building it in a much better way to allow for more flexibility in the future!


Things i fixed:

  • New models - Made a house as well as the 'Station Approach' logo
  • Better navmesh - Removed a lot of unused meshes, blocked off the ending so survivors don't TP past the gate
  • Better VIS - Made a lot of new func_viscluster to hopefully cause less crashes
  • Hid the secret a bit better and added more loot in it, If you want to know where it is: In the starting area, there is a button hidden behind a few pallets in front of one of the first houses, press it and it becomes accessible just behind you
  • Few buggy areas closed off + filled open areas up with props
  • More Safe House sprays and lights to help guide the player
