Additions
  • In 1337, added the count of Schaunberg as a vassal of Austria.
  • Added two vassals to 1337 Serbia: Orle of the Orlović dynasty (count of Podrinje) and Vojin of the Vojinović dynasty (duke of Zeta).
  • Added Ukrainian and Belarusian cultural names of Gomel (Homel and Homieĺ).
  • Added Polish and Pomeranian cultural names for Wolgast ("Wołogoszcz") and Rügen ("Bardo", after the duchy of Pomerania-Barth).
  • Added the prince-bishop of Brixen to 1187 and later, and added the prince-bishop of Chur to 1187 and 1204 (1337 still uses the count of Montfort instead of the bishop of Chur).
  • Added coats of arms for Esztergom, Lower Bosnia, Heves, Borsod, Székelyföld, Barcaság, the Kulinić dynasty, and the Báthory dynasty.
  • Added Hungarian cultural names of Mačva (Macsó), Beograd (Nándorfehérvár), and Braničevo (Barancs).
  • Added Vlach cultural names in Fogaras, Hunyad, and Máramaros counties, and added German cultural names in Barcaság county.
  • Added flavorization for feudal Hungarian-cultured dukes of Transylvania (Voivodeship/Voivode).
Misc. changes
  • Adjusted Upper Bosnian coat of arms.
  • Changed primary title for Šubić ruler (1337) from Dalmatia to Croatia.
  • Changed Ukrainian cultural name of Ökörmező from Volove to Mizhhiria.
Culture changes
  • Added Ihnat to Belarusian name list.
  • Added Balsha to Albanian name list.
  • Moved a couple dynasty names (Subisławic, Wolin) from the Polish name list to the Pomeranian name list.
  • Adjusted spellings of several names in the Pomeranian name list. Most of the changes were replacing Czech names with their Polish equivalents, or, in one case, the Kashubian equivalent (Subisław instead of Sobiesław). Additionally, added a few names to the name list.
  • Added "Samborid" to the Pomeranian dynasty name list (from an alternate name of the Sobiesławice/Subisławice).
  • Changed Polish and Pomeranian dynasty locative prefixes from "of" to "z".
  • Removed Gothic as a parent culture of Visigothic.
  • Changed Gothic's heritage from Byzantine to East Germanic, but gave it a +15 starting relation with Greek to compensate. As it is no longer Byzantine, I changed its color from CK2's pink Gothic color to Imperator Rome's brown Germanic color.
  • Changed Gothic's ethos from Stoic to Bellicose.
  • Removed polygamy/concubinage from Irish, Welsh, and Gaelic in 1337.
  • Gave Greek "Strong Believers" in 1081 and later so the Turks won't convert them as quickly.
  • Replaced Nile Archers with Mubarizuns for Coptic.
Character and dynasty changes
  • Made the future Charles IV of the HRE start with a claim on the HRE, because in real life, he was elected King of the Romans before his father died, which was impossible in previous versions of the mod, wherein he had to inherit his father's claim.
  • Changed Subisławic dynasty members from Polish to Pomeranian.
  • Changed spellings of some Pomeranian characters' names (mostly changing from German spellings like Bogislaw and Wartislaw to Polish spellings like Bogusław and Warcisław); Polabian characters' names are currently kept mostly as is.
  • Renamed Matej Ninoslav of Bosnia from "Ninoslav" to "Matej Ninoslav".
Province history changes
  • Changed Brixen to Cisalpine.
  • Made Stralsund exist as a city holding in 1187 and later.
  • Improved culture layout in Hungary: In 1066 and later, Vlach counties in eastern Hungary (Transylvania, Banat, and Máramaros) were changed back to Hungarian, with a few exceptions (Fogaras in 1187 and later, along with Hunyad and Máramaros in 1337). Additionally, I switched the cultures of Fehér and Barcaság in later start dates, i.e. Fehér stays Hungarian and Barcaság becomes Franconian.
Title history changes
  • Moved Linz, Hallstatt, and Schaunberg from Salzburg to Austria in 1187 and later.
  • Corrected holder of the duchy of Salzburg in 1081, 1187, and 1204.
  • Reduced territory of Branko Rastislalić to just Braničevo.
  • Changed 1337 duke of Zeta, demoting the holder from previous versions to count of Zeta.
  • Made Simeon Uroš the count of Ohrid in 1337.
  • Moved Bastia from Milan to Pisa in 1066 and 1081.
  • Moved the Grisons to Swabia in 1187.
  • Moved Ostisio da Polenta from Casentino to Ravenna (Casentino is now owned by the pope instead, which is subject to change).
  • Renamed the duchy of Romagna to Ferarra in 1337, and changed its de jure capital from Ravenna to Ferarra in that start date.
  • Expanded Urbino in 1337 into the rest of the de jure duchy of Ancona.
  • Made Luni independent in 1337.
  • Changed Lombardy from republican to feudal in 1204.
  • Renamed Lesser Poland to Kraków in 1187 and later.
  • Made Srem stay de jure Hungary in 1337, because it was never part of Serbia (I had misunderstood the situation; it was, for a few decades, ruled by Serbs of the Nemanjić dynasty, but as a vassal of Hungary and not as part of Serbia).
  • Changed Dubrovnik's holder in 1337 from a ficticious person (I was fooled by Wikipedia) to someone real.
  • Lowered development in Transylvania, Wallachia, and Moldavia.
Localization changes
  • Corrected spelling of Belarusian dynasty name Damiejka (was Damejka).
  • Changed the duchy of Romagna's adjective from Romagnan to Romagnol.
  • Renamed Subisławowic dynasty to Subisławic.
  • Changed names of a few Hungarian baronies: Fehér to Gyulafehérvár, Szatmár to Szatmárnémeti, Deva to Déva, Harszoc to Hátszeg, Balvanyos to Bálványos, Téscö to Téscő, and Ökörmezo to Ökörmező.

Update: 21 Apr, 2022 @ 8:51am

Additions
  • Added some Italian/Cisalpine/Sicilian/Sardinian/Dalmatian cultural names for some locations on the Croatian/Montenegrin coast.
  • In 1337, added Branko Rastislalić as a vassal of Serbia (duke of Mačva).
  • In 1337, added two Bosnian vassals: Vuk Kosača (count of Vrhbosna) and Milten Draživojević (count of Zahumlje). Note: Vuk should properly be a vassal of Serbia, but he held lands around the game's county of Vrhbosna, which was controlled by Bosnia. Both Vuk and Milten are Serbian and Orthodox.
Misc. changes
  • Changed the Kingdom of Albania's color from the EU4 color to the HoI4 color, because the EU4 color looks out of place in CK3.
  • Changed Italian cultural name of Cetina from Spalato to Cettina.
Culture changes
  • Expanded Albanian name list, and changed dynasty locative prefix from "e" to "i".
  • Gave a +15 starting cultural relation modifier between Albanians and Serbs, and, in 1337 only, gave a +15 starting cultural relation modifier between Albanians and Sicilians.
Character and dynasty changes
  • Gave "the Fat" nickname to Welf II/V (duke of Bavaria from 1101 to 1120), and added Matilda di Canossa as his wife in 1088.
  • Changed Bahris (1337 ruling dynasty of Egypt) from Kipchak to Cuman.
  • Changed Villalobos to a cadet branch of Lara.
Province history changes
  • Changed the Grisons from Swabian to Cisalpine (representing Romansh).
  • Changed Reggio Calabria and Lecce from Orthodox to Catholic in 1187 and later.
  • Changed Aquileia from Carantanian culture to Cisalpine culture, because, while there was a Slavic presence in the area, Slavs probably didn't form a majority in the whole county.
  • Reverted Chuvash counties from Maturidi back to Tengrist in 1337.
  • Made Pomoravlje stay Bulgarian culture in 1337.
  • Changed Bastia to Italian culture in 1066/1081.
  • Changed Veria's culture so that it is Greek culture in early dates and Bulgarian culture in later dates, instead of vice versa.
  • Made Braničevo and Vidin stay Vlach culture in later dates instead of turning Serbian and Bulgarian, respectively.
Title history changes
  • Changed Ryazan's capital barony to Pereyaslavl Ryazanski in 1337. The barony of Ryazan isn't made into an empty holding due to current limitations with CK3's engine. Likewise, changed the capital barony of Itil/Saray to Saray in 1337.
Localization changes
  • Changed spelling of Turkish cultural name of Constantinople from Konstantiniyye to Kostantiniyye (both spellings can be found in modern Turkish in reference to the Ottoman period, but the name in Arabic script doesn't have the first n).
  • Changed Serbian name "Stanisa" to "Staniša".

Update: 6 Apr, 2022 @ 5:53pm

For full changelog, see Paradox Forum post here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/threads/additional-start-dates-and-cultures.1481059/post-28197549

Additions
  • Added Grip, Bielke, Erik, and Ruffo dynasty coat of arms.
  • Added ruler of the Hamid Beylik in 1337 as an independent count of Pisidia.
  • Added flavorization for duke-ranked republican rulers of Croatian, Serbian, or Bosnian culture (Knez/Kneginja) and Dalmatian culture (Rector/Rectrix), based on historical titles of the rulers of the Republic of Dubrovnik/Ragusa.
  • Added Tanrıbermiş as count of Ionia in 1081.
  • Added longer genealogy for the Ottomans, based primarily on Enveri's version of the genealogy (one of the few to get Osman's grandfather's name correct). After that genealogy ends, I linked it all the way to Kayı and Oghuz Khan by filling in the gap with other versions of the genealogy (combining the ones created by Karamanlı Mehmet Paşa and Aşıkpaşazade, whose genealogies went back to Kayı and Oghuz Khan but had too few generations to be realistic with CK3's dating for Oghuz Khan). While I don't believe what I have done to be very historically accurate, I thought it would make the game more entertaining to have a long Ottoman genealogy.
  • Added counts of Lobdeburg in 1187 and 1204.
Removals
  • Removed AI Rum restriction on creating kingdoms to make independence factions less likely, though it will look worse on the map after the AI creates a kingdom due to 1.5 hardcoding the AI to not use titular titles as primary (except for head of faith titles).
Misc. changes
  • Swapped red and white on the county of Dubrovnik's coat of arms (which I added in the previous version), in order to differentiate it from the duchy (both versions were used historically).
  • Changed "Embrace Turkish culture" decision's requirements: now only requires level 2 prestige instead of level 3, no longer is specific to Rum (any kingdom now works), is no longer available if not independent, and now requires realm size of at least 20 counties.
  • Added Abruzzi and Teramo to the special Sicilian culture region.
  • Made Ottoman Byzantine decision easier; now no longer requires Strymon and Thessalonika, and no longer requires a level of devotion.
Culture changes
  • Changed Turkish's creation date from 1100 to 1150; this is somewhat arbitrary.
  • Gave Turkish a +20 starting acceptance bonus with Oghuz.
  • Modified Oghuz and Turkish personal name lists to use Turkish spellings of some names (e.g. Keyhüsrev instead of Kaykhusraw).
  • Replaced Turkish dynasty name list, differentiating it from Oghuz.
  • Gave Dalmatian and Croatian a +20% starting cultural acceptance modifier in 1337.
  • Made Pecheneg have Oghuz as a parent culture (the Pechenegs were an Oghuz tribe).
  • In the Vlach name list, replaced the following names: Damjan (Damian), Stefan (Ștefan), Eufroysina (Eufrosina), Christina (Cristina), Ecatarina (Ecaterina), Sophia (Sofia), Stefana (Ștefana), Stefania (Ștefania), Milos (Miloș), Seneslav (Seneslau). Also added Mișelav and Farcaș (names of historical rulers), removed Țepeș (a byname for Vlad III meaning "impaler", not a personal name), and removed Janos (not a Romanian name).
  • Replaced Grigorii with Grgur in Croatian name list.
Character and dynasty changes
  • Made all Almohads, Hafsids, Zayyanids, and Marinids start knowing Arabic, and not just whoever holds the kingdom/empire; similarly, all Yelüs will know Chinese (except Qutlugh Khan cadet branch members).
  • Made Eufemia, wife of Albert of Mecklenburg (1337), have a pressed claim on Sweden, so that any children she has will inherit a claim on it when she dies (historically, her son would become king of Sweden).
  • Changed Alvarenga to a cadet branch of Ribadouro, Haihaya to a cadet branch of Cedi, Pathan to a cadet branch of Tomara, Vijayabahu to a cadet branch of Lambakanna, Khön to a cadet branch of Lharik, Boyül to a cadet branch of Pugyel, and Teke to a cadet branch of the new Hamid dynasty.
  • Changed Mar and Menteith dynasty characters from Scots to Gaelic.
  • For better accuracy, changed Hashimid to a Quraysh dynasty with Hashimid, Banu Taym, and Banu Adi cadet branches, because only descendants of Hashim ibn Abd Manaf are Hashimids. Does not affect gameplay.
  • Added Joan of Taranto (a wife of King Oshin of Armenian Cilicia) to character history.
  • Corrected name of Oshin of Armenian Cilicia (was Oshim).
  • Replaced Levon IV of Armenian Cilicia's Lazy trait with Stubborn.
  • Changed Osman's father from the Ottoman dynasty to House Kayı (Oghuz cadet branch).
  • Changed Osman's mother's name from Khaima to Halime; Khamia (Hayme) is, by tradition, the name of his grandmother.
  • Gave the infant Tamerlane a claim on the Chagatai Khanate and the ambitious trait.
  • Renamed Inaltiginid and Il-Arslanid cadet branches of Oghuz to Üchoq and Bozoq (not sure where Paradox got Inaltiginid and Il-Arslanid from).
  • Changed Seljuk back to its own dynasty (reverting a change Paradox made in 1.5.1), because Oghuz Khan most likely did not exist, and if Seljuks are an Oghuz cadet branch, then almost every Oghuz dynasty should be made an Oghuz cadet branch.
  • Gave "the Black" nickname to 1337 duke of Gelre.
  • Split Cleves branch of Flamens dynasty into a cadet branch (von Cleve).
Province history changes
  • Changed Nyland to Swedish in 1337 (county layout means I can't make coastal Ostrobothnia Swedish without making a significant inland portion Swedish, so I kept it Finnish).
  • Changed Nyland to pagan in 1187 and 1204, since it isn't yet controlled by the Swedes; also changed its capital barony to a tribal holding.
  • Changed Ostrobothnian capital baronies in counties controlled by Sweden in 1187/1204 from tribal holdings to castle holdings.
  • Changed Ångermanland to pagan in 1187 and 1204, to match its holder, and changed it to a castle holding in 1337.
  • Gave Orhan an unpressed claim on Abydos.
  • Gave the Germiyan ruler in 1337 a pressed claim on Thracesia.
  • Changed Dursunbey, Pamfilya, and Taşköprü to Turkish in 1337.
  • Made Cappadocia stay Greek culture in all start dates, instead of turning Oghuz/Turkish.
  • Changed Przemków, Legnica, Wrocław/Breslau, and Brzeg to Franconian in 1337 (I tried to do areas west of the Oder, though it is imperfect due to the county layout not following the river perfectly).
Title history changes
  • Increased Nyland's development in 1337 to represent Swedish settlement and increased population.
  • Made Magnus of Sweden not have Ostrogothia in 1337, since he holds no counties in it.
  • Adjusted 1337 Sweden vassals' titles.
  • Made Sverker II of Sweden not have Westrogothia in 1204, since he holds no counties in it.
  • Made the Mar dynasty hold the Mormaerdom of Buchan in 1337, instead of it being part of the royal domain (Marr is inside the in-game county of Buchan).
  • Replaced fictional(?) ruler of Dubrovnik in 1337 with a Croat named Nikša Sorgo; I took the name from the person who would be the first Knez of the Republic of Dubrovnik upon its independence in 1358.
  • Moved Lycia to the Tekes in 1337, and changed who holds the duchy of Cibyrrhaeot back to the Tekes.
  • Made Karesis independent in 1337.
  • Changed holder of Forcalquier in 1081 from Ermengol of Urgell to his wife.
  • Changed 936 Pecheneg ruler from one fictional character to another (the fictional namesake of the Pechenegs that Paradox included in the character history).

  • Added specific mechanic for Kazimierz the Great that automatically disinherits any of his daughters upon their birth. The reason I did this is so the flavor text makes sense, despite the fact that the deal to have succession go to Louis if Kazimierz had so sons wasn't done until 1355.
Removals
  • Removed "Antalya" cultural name of Side (was done by Paradox in error).
Misc. changes
  • Assigned baronies for the following holy sites without changing county: Sinai (St. Catherine), Kufa (Al-Kufa), Basra (Basra), Bodh Gaya (Bodh Gaya), Sanchi (Sanchi), Palitana (Moherak), Ranakpur (Ranakpur), Jumla (Jumla), Ngawa (Ngawa), Uppsala (Uppsala), Sparta (Lacedaemonia), Lhasa (Lhasa), Kisi (Kisi), Kaffa (Kaffa), and Suzhou (Suzhou).
  • Changed the following holy sites to different counties: Dwin from Suenik to Dvin, Siffin from Palmyra to Resafa (barony of Siffin), Tokht-e Soleyman to Maragha (barony of Shiz).
  • Renamed Syrrusafa to Resafa, Ar-Rusafa to Ar-Resafa, and Ar-Rusafa-Iraq to Ar-Rusafa, Crius to Cius, Cridus to Cnidus, and Adrassos to Andrassos.
  • Changed Turkish cultural name of Chios from Sakız Adası to Sakız.
Character and dynasty changes
  • Updated to CK3 1.5.1.1.
  • Gave 867 ruler of Paganija a "Neretva" dynasty (after the Neretvani/Narentines, the tribe there), instead of having a dynasty generated for him at game start.
  • Made Elisabeth of Poland be betrothed to Louis the Roman in 1337 (note: in real life, the betrothal would later be changed to her sister Kunegunda, and Elisabeth would instead marry Bogislaw of Pomerania).
  • Changed Losenstein to a Steyr cadet branch.
  • Changed Viczay and Kanizsai to Osli cadet branchs.
  • Made Louis the German's second son his primary heir, which fixes Bavaria/East Francia succession in 867.
Title history changes
  • In 1337, made Orhan own Bukellarion, Honorias, and 'Edirne' (i.e. Hadrianopolis in Honoriade) directly, instead of them being owned by his son as a vassal.
  • Removed duchy of Croatia from dukes of Slavonia in 1187 and 1204, because they don't hold any de jure land in it.
Bug fixes
  • Fixed Namur and Comminges not having holders in 936.

Changed "Illyrian emperors" to Illyrian culture, and fixed some bugs in history files.

  • Added "Kiev" as a cultural name for Kyiv when held by a ruler of Great Russian culture.
  • Added "Pleskov" as a cultural name for Pskov with Rus' and East Slavic tribal cultures.
