Decided to go back and port this as close to the original as possible. I have addressed every complaint that anyone had. I fixed navs, replaced missing models, added the missing sounds that are in the l4d1 version, made changes to the elevator so it would go back down in case someone fell off or got stuck below, reran all the maps in hdr finale mode which helped with the lighting, replaced a model or two that were invisible that fell off in the original porting, etc. etc. I fixed the safe room glitch where the goodies are outside the safe room (it required a new safe room configuration between maps 3 and 4, Fixed the ladder issue on map 5 of the original, I also left map 5 split as whatever is wrong with it crashing on credit roll is not going to be fixed without doing so. Map 6 (2nd part of map 5) is back as close to the original as possible (no extra army tanks, etc.) and the bots go get on the APC everytime and there are no more crashes period. Someone said the area in map 5 was too open so I added a helicopter landing pad with some crates on it the tank can smack around / director can spawn stuff. Makes it a bit more fun. :) Any issues let me know. I've played this thing 100 times through so I don't think you'll have any issues. I'll be releasing the sound mod update to the original dead echo that is still up as a patch. The more I try to fix anything on that map the more problems it causes. All those fixes were resolved in this (fixed) version. Look for it soon also. Looking forward to getting back on track with my updates.

P.S. - I've moved this back to beta until I know everything is working correctly in versus on all maps (need some feedback). I've got to say that next to No More Industries, this campaign has had more problems than a cat has lives. To date, I've removed leaks, deleted broken brushes, fixed 2 maps crashing, fixed or replaced at least two maps complete navs, added a new skybox, added ammo piles, guns, melees, etc where they were needed and added and corrected all modes back to every map. Some being created from scratch on some maps. Some events were not working correctly so I had to go and rebuild the dysfunctional area and do something else. For instance, I went and re-added the ladders that someone wanted back on map 5 but the map continued to crash. I spent weeks trying to figure out why it crashed only on stat roll to no avail. So I ended up having to make a different saferoom to saferoom transition and remove the woods part of that map and the campaign stopped dropping. So unfortunately, both stairs and ladders are gone now. Apparently there was something wrong on that side of the map the editor nor log would flag as broken? That said, I've tried to only modify what I had to to offer some game stability. During this repair process I also worked on the request to make sure all the modes that were assigned to the game are working correctly (versus in particular). So I went through every map and made sure all the items that make up survival and versus were fixed on all maps. Gotta say I learned a lot in the process. I have only tested the versus modes in the developer but I don't see why they wouldn't work. However, if something doesn't please let me know and be detailed about what isn't. I made sure all the climbing textures and tank break wall textures were added correctly as some were missing or using old textures. (PP.SS.) I also opened up a couple of closed areas on some maps. I'm sure you will see some of them along the way (warehouse area, extra outhouses for rescue etc.). Also (Echo) base got a few military upgrades while you were sleeping :). Redid the finale to utilize a different escape vehicle. Should be no more crashes on exit credits. Added a survival map. Still working on the other two. Still checking the versus maps to make sure they are setup correctly. More coming.

My apologies. Rebuilt the cubemaps with the nav editor open and it left some chequered red reflections on some shiney areas. Just rebuilt them. Enjoy.

Removed leaks off at least 2 maps, fixed several brushes that had corrupted, repaired a bunch of nav issues, Fixed crashing map 2 and finale issues. Working on getting all the other modes working also. Currently only coop is working. Items aren't spawning in survival mode etc.

Hi.

Finding information and help for L4D authoring tools is close to impossible, where most of your questions are never answered and you spend most of your time discussing off topic on L4D authoring forums and mailing lists. Now I can design and map pretty good for my own standards, but I'm not a programmer and not an investigator. if one needs to be those in order to make maps for L4D then I guess I'll have to call it quits. :)

If you know how to solve the problems you see in the campaign then by all means, contact me and I'll give you the VMFs and assets and you're more than welcome to finish/fix Dead Echo.
