  • Fixed players not receiving a jar and lid after sifting acorn flour into a baking tray.

V1.4: The Knox County Cooking Club Update


Hello everyone! Since vanilla Zomboid in 41.73 updated herbs and other food additives, I’ve decided to take this mod in another direction. While the mod will still tweak vanilla herbs and such, it will now also add a bunch of new foods and food additives to spice up your post-apocalyptic lives!
Since this is a big switch, I’ve also decided to rename the mod as a whole. From this update forwards, Use Stuff as Spices will now be known as Knox County Cooking Club.

Listed below is the changelog.

Technical
  • Under the hood, added translation support and some tooltips.
  • Herb shakers have been obsoleted. Their data and models remain in the files, but they are no longer obtainable. They will likely be removed in a future update. Italian Seasoning remains, but the recipe has been changed to require 4 of each of the herbs it previously required.

Additions
  • Added mugwort, a new forageable herb. It provides minor stress relief and can be added to a few evolved recipes.
  • Added pine nuts.
  • Added pine nut butter.
  • Added pine syrup. It must be prepared, then left to macerate for a period of time, then can be harvested from the container.
  • Added the ability to make homemade Fruit Jam and Marmalade.
  • Added persimmons, which can be found in January, February, September, October, November, and December. Malus months January and February, bonus months November and October.
  • Added the ability to make acorn flour, a renewable source of vanilla flour.
  • Added the ability to make pesto.
  • Added the ability to make marinara sauce and ketchup.
  • Added “Road Refuse”, which can be foraged on Roads. They can be butchered for meat.

Tweaks
  • Condensed Milk has been added to JunkFood forage tables.
  • Vanilla herbs can be used in more evolved recipes.

V1.3 : Soup, Spice, and Everything Nice

You can now use foraged herbs out of the box (or bush?) as spices. They also now have nutritional values. All values taken from nutritionix.com and nutritionvalue.org, and assumed at 1oz.

Bouillon cubes can now be put in soups and stews.

Italian Seasoning, herbs, and their respective shakers can now be used to spice omelettes.

It now takes 4 herbs to make a shaker, instead of 3.

Italian Seasoning and generic herb shakers now have lovely 3D models.

V1.2 : The Spice-ial Update

Base herb shakers buffed to -6 hunger.
Italian Seasoning buffed to -12 hunger, nerfed to 20 thirst.
Both herb shakers and Italian seasoning have had their weight changed to 0.2, just like pepper and salt.

And now they all have nutritional values! All values taken from nutritionix.com and nutritionvalue.org. All values are also calculated assuming they're in standard 4oz shakers.
