4.0.4 Hotfix Update
  • Fix removed for Belegar's Karak Eight Peaks grudge reward (CA fixed this in 4.0.4)
  • NEW: Maintaining the lowest level of grudge severity now provides 10 Oathgold per turn. This was added based on feedback from users to give the player more incentive to stay at the lowest level (rather than allow grudges just to farm for Oathgold). This value can be tweaked further depending on how it plays.

1.1 Hotfix
  • Character grudge fix could throw a script error after the character's faction had been eliminated; this has been rectified.

Version 1.1
  • FIXED: New character grudges (where you must defeat a particular character in battle with your faction leader) were not properly aborting in the case where the character permanently died before you could fight him (only could happen if the faction was wiped out before confederating with a larger one), leaving a grudge that could never be completed. This has been rectified so that these grudges will be aborted at the beginning of the next player turn following such an elimination.
  • FIXED: Belegar's main Karak Eight Peaks grudge will display his faction logo when being issued or completed, as it should (this was a vanilla bug).
  • IMPROVED: New character grudges will not have their tracker in the grudge book lost if they are wounded (by someone other than your faction leader). While they are wounded, the tracker will point to their faction capital, and it will resume pointing to the character once they are back on the field. (If they are permanently killed, the grudge will abort).
  • IMPROVED: The tracker for new character grudges will properly show as complete once the grudge is settled (the icon will receive a little checkmark, as auto-generated mission targets do).
  • BALANCE: The grudge age severity multipliers have been adjusted. The new levels are as follows:
    1. x1 at 0 turns
    2. 1.5x at 10 turns
    3. 2x at 20 turns
    4. 3x at 50 turns
    5. 5x at 100 turns (unchanged)

Balance note: These figures were made harsher in the beginning to make them more impactful for grudges that are generated mid-campaign. This will create some added challenge in the early game as legendary grudges initially scale up in severity faster, but they will not reach maximum severity any more quickly than before, which should leave ample opportunity for mitigating the worst grudge level penalties by clearing at least a couple of legendary grudges before turn 50 (and hopefully most, if not all, by turn 100)

  • NEW FEATURE: Extra penalties for having a very high grudge level, extra bonus for having the lowest grudge level:
    1. At minimum grudge level (0-19 overall severity): +15% tradeable resource production across your whole faction
    2. At very high grudge level (60-79 overall severity): -15% tradeable resource production across your whole faction
    3. At maximum grudge level (80+ overall severity): -30% tradeable resource production acorss your whole faction, +1 construction time for all buildings

Feature note: These effects were added to make the grudge meter more impactful, particularly later in the game when tradeable resources make up a significant portion of your income. If you ignore grudges, you will suffer economically, but if you stay on top of them, you get a fairly significant trade boon. Narratively, I imagine the Dwarfs would be able to focus more on industry when there are less grudges that need settling.

Small Update
  • Razed settlement grudge detection fixed.

Update: 12 May, 2023 @ 5:27pm

Small Update
  • The tweak to "Iron Readiness" technology altered to increase compatibility with other mods that use the default Irondrakes unit set. Ironbreakers will still benefit from the technology with this mod, but Irondrakes will be shown as also benefiting (when they do not). This small visual error was deemed worthwhile for compatibility. h/t to Squadinho for pointing out this issue.
