Version 1.1.0 - The Plunder Refreshed Update

Dev Notes: After completing Roadie’s revamp patch and releasing Lexa, I took a look back at Plunderer while working on my next batch of characters (as of yet, I do not know who is releasing next). He felt really outdated and janky compared to all of the things I have learned about YOMI modding through Roadie and Lexa, and I felt a refresh with modern sensibilities was in order, considering his mod is nearly 2 years old at the time of writing. In addition, I wanted to refine what I intended for his playstyle to be, turning him into a bruiser/zoner hybrid with new projectiles and new options to make his fighting more consistent and less janky. I have also removed several moves that either didn’t fit the vision, were incredibly janky, or were redundant.

General:
Moved all of the sprites into one big folder instead of several small sub-folders for easier development clarity.

New Moves:
Reworked Blunderbuss - Send out a super-powered spread shot to rain hell on your enemies!
Dash Slash - Forward-moving arc slash to keep the pressure on in battle!
Moneybag - Spin around using your loot as a weapon!
Plank - Wide-range anti-air bringing the plank to the opponent!
Cannon Rider - Sit atop a powerful cannon and see what happens!
Harpoon - Slow-moving grappling hook projectile that brings you into the fray!
Trident - Fast piercing aimed projectile to keep your opponents at bay!
Spirit Strike - With 1 super meter, place down a ghastly ally to bounce the enemy back to you!
Bomb - With 2 super meter, place a bomb lying in wait for the opponent’s next (wrong) move!
Broadside - With 5 super meter, unleash a flurry of cannonballs on the enemy ship!

Removed Moves:
Stab, replaced by Dash Slash
Lunge, replaced by Harpoon
Spirit Circle, replaced by Spirit Strike

Burst:
Change: Now has unique entry SFX.

Throw:
Change: Reanimated Throw and changed the placement of the opponent during the throw.

Slash Down:
Change: Now has unique hit SFX.
Buff: Horizontal static force increased from 1 to 3.
Buff: Moved the hitbox slightly right to better match visuals, increasing the range by 5 units.
Nerf: Resized hitbox to better match visuals, the height being reduced from 30 to 27 and being moved slightly lower to accommodate.

Slash Up:
Change: Now has unique hit SFX.
Buff: Horizontal static force increased from 1 to 3.
Nerf: Resized hitbox to better match visuals, the height being reduced from 41 to 30 and being moved slightly higher to accommodate.

Spin Slash:
Change: Now has unique hit SFX.
Change: Compressed from five distinct hitboxes to one looping hitbox.
Nerf: Hitbox is no longer cancellable.

Chest Slam:
Change: Now has unique hit SFX.
Change: Second hitbox now has higher priority than the first.
Nerf: No longer cancellable between hits.

Fish Slam:
Change: Resets momentum on use.
Change: Hitlag increased from 4 frames to 15.
Change: Now has unique hit SFX.
Buff: Propels Plunderer slightly forward on use before the new gravity takes effect.

Flintlock:
Change: Now has unique SFX.
Buff: Projectile now hits OTG. Good luck doing that though.
Nerf: Animation length increased from 8 frames to 10.

Blunderbuss:
Rework: Now fires three Flintlock bullet projectiles in an aimable spread shot.
Change: Now has unique SFX.
Nerf: Now costs 1 super meter.
Nerf: Knockback hitbox removed.

Barrel Kick:
Fix: Barrel no longer fizzles on ground.
Change: Reanimated with a much larger barrel.
Change: Projectile now has unique hit SFX.
Buff: Barrel size increased by nearly 3 times in both directions.
Nerf: Projectile comes out 2 frames later (8 to 10).
Nerf: Projectile has 2 more frames of recovery than before.

Bird Up and Polly Dive:
Change: Both moves now have unique entry SFX.
Change: Compressed into one move (“Polly”), with each move being a different selectable variant. Bird Up is NE, Polly Dive is SE

Polly Strike:
Change: Now has unique entry SFX.
Change: Compressed with Bird Up and Polly Dive into Polly as the E variant.
Buff: Projectile comes out 4 frames earlier (12 to 8).

Spirit Guards:
Change: Now has unique entry SFX.

Wheel Throw:
Change: Projectile now has unique hit SFX.
Change: Updated the code to extend CharacterState instead of SuperMove, and adjusted accordingly.

Davy Jones’ Locker:
Change: Now has unique entry SFX.
Change: Updated the code to extend CharacterState instead of SuperMove, and adjusted accordingly.
Nerf: Damage per ghost decreased from 45 to 30.
Nerf: No longer chains into itself.

Leviathan:
Change: Projectile now has unique hit SFX.
Change: Updated the code to extend CharacterState instead of SuperMove, and adjusted accordingly.
Nerf: Added 4 ticks of recovery to the end of the move and adjusted accordingly.

Version 1.0.4 - The Realignment Update
Dev Notes: Now that frame data is explicitly available in YOMI proper with numbers telling how long the moves are, I feel that I overtuned Plunderer’s speed in Version 1.02, seeing as he is largely slower than most other characters, even Robot, and as such I have brought him in line with the base roster once again, if not a little faster than average to aid his efforts as a zoner. I have also given his moves proper recovery frames to add to this notion, making him a lot less safe on parry overall. In addition, I have added new effects to several of his moves to give him more combo potential and give him more of a unique identity.

Files:
Any attacks without special functions in their code now share a single script to save on file size.

Slash Down:
Buff: Animation length changed from 9 frames to 8 (18 ticks to 16).
Buff: Hitbox comes out 1.5 frames (3 ticks) faster, coming on tick 6 instead of tick 9.
Nerf: Hitbox length reduced by three ticks (9 to 6).
Nerf: Added 2 frames (4 ticks) of recovery to the end of the move.
Change: Static force changed from tick 5 to tick 2.

Version 1.0.3 - The Variety Update

Dev Notes: I felt like Plunderer needed more options in combat, so I opted to give him some new tools in his arsenal, and tweak some of the pre-existing ones to make them more viable.

Moveset:
Added two new moves: Slash Up and Spirit Circle.

Chest Slam:
Buff: Damage on second hit increased from 100 to 120.
Buff: Minimum damage on second hit increased from 50 to 70.
Buff: Hitstun on second hit increased from 25 ticks to 35 ticks.

Barrel Kick:
Buff: Projectile speed increased from 2 to 3.
Buff: Projectile no longer affected by friction.

Leviathan:
Change: Projectile now has two hits coded in, but still only hits once, so that the fish doesn’t immediately disappear on hit.

Version 1.0.2 - The Power Redistribution Update

Dev Notes: Feedback about Plunderer mostly suggested he was far too fast, and that his damage was far too light. Going into the Godot project file of the itch.io version of the game and looking at the base game characters’ move data made me come to the same conclusion. This update aims to bring Plunderer closer in line to the other characters in the YOMI Hustle roster. He will still be slightly faster than the baseline (more in line with Ninja than Cowboy or Wizard) but his damage is slightly lower than baseline too.

Files:
Removed sprites related to Spirit Strike, a scrapped move.

Slash Down:
Nerf: Animation length increased from 6 frames to 9 (12 ticks to 18).
Nerf: Hitbox startup delay increased from tick 5 to tick 9.
Buff: Hitbox duration increased from 7 ticks to 9.
Buff: Damage increased from 35 to 65.
Buff: Vertical knockback increased from 1 to 2.

Stab:
Nerf: Animation length increased from 4 frames to 8 (8 ticks to 16).

Nerf: Animation length increased from 12 frames to 15 (24 ticks to 30).
Nerf: Hitbox startup delay increased from tick 2 (first hit) and tick 16 (second hit) to tick 4 (first hit) and tick 20 (second hit).
Buff: Hitbox lifetime increased from 12 ticks (first hit) and 8 ticks (second hit) to 16 ticks (first hit) and 10 ticks (second hit).
Buff: Damage increased from 20 (first hit) and 65 (second hit) to 30 (first hit) and 100 (second hit).

Fish Slam:
Nerf: Hitbox startup delay increased from tick 2 to tick 4.
Buff: Damage increased from 65 to 100.

Flintlock:
Nerf: Animation length increased from 5 frames to 6 (10 ticks to 12).

Davy Jones’ Locker:
Change: Fixed the typo in the move’s name on the menu.
Change: Changed the ticks-per-frame from 1 to 2 and reduced the tick count from 15 to 14 to accommodate.
Buff: Animation length reduced from 15 frames to 7 (15 ticks to 14).
Buff: Damage per projectile increased from 35 to 45 (210 total to 270 total).

Leviathan:
Buff: Damage increased from 350 to 400.

Version 1.0.1 - The Oversights Update

Dev Notes: I was really excited to launch Plunderer as he approached completion, and as such certain things were either left unfinished or had portions of it missing. Along with the first round of testing with my friends, this patch brings Plunderer into being a more well-rounded fighter!

HUD:
Added icons to Spin Slash, Dig and Leviathan.
Fixed the in-game names of Barrel Kick and Dig.

Air Slash and Air Stab:
Change: Removed.

Slash Down and Stab:
Change: Now usable in the air.

Fish Slam:
Buff: Damage increased from 60 to 65.
