Attention soldiers and citizens of Perryville

Attention soldiers, I would like to revert to an older version. The version posted today was from march 17th, and I would like to see how balanced it is compared to the version currently uploaded. At ease, soldiers! I wish there was more I could do with Perryville, exploring older versions is all I can do sadly.

Update: 24 May, 2024 @ 1:32pm

Update:

I understand that many of you find the newly instated pathfinding adjustments to be unpopular. Therefore I have decided to reverse most of those changes. This update also comes with new recommendations for the effective range mutator, Settings can be viewed from the map screenshots.

Regiments

-Extended the firing line of 45th Alabama

Spawns

-Many spawns have been reverted to their previous position except for a few.

Level design

-Added more small pine trees near 45th Alabama

-Adjusted a few tree positions near 10th Wisconsin.

-Small terrain adjustment near 105th Ohio

-Added more small trees near 105th Ohio

-Added in some sandbags near 105th Ohio

Reverted pathfinding links for the following regiments since troops dont really seem to enjoy these changes. If they dont enjoy these, oh well.

-45th Alabama.

-101st Ohio

-17th Tennessee

-10th Wisconsin

-105th Ohio

Update: 14 May, 2024 @ 4:32pm

Patch

Greetings soldiers, this patch adjusts cell size of six of pathfinding boxes. You may notice some different movement patterns. The beginning of the match may be a little laggy at first but should gradually fix itself once the traffic of bots using pathing links has slowed.

Furthermore I have one more recommendation for the effective range decreaser, consider decreasing the minimum range to 400. Increase it for more difficult matches. Max distance should be set to 422.

Simplified Patch note.
-Cell size adjustment for six pathfinding boxes.
-Foliage adjustment
-New recommendation
-Adjusted wind ambience audio
-Updated default maps default lighting setting which reduced fog at night.

At ease, soldiers!

Update

Greeting’s soldiers, this week's update has a bunch of navigation adjustments. More importantly, the effective range mutator requires new settings, make sure you checkout the updated screenshot.

NEW SPAWN POINTS FOR THE FOLLOWING

-45th Alabama

-101st Ohio

-10th Wisconsin

-17th Tennessee

-27th Tennessee

-105th Ohio

OPTIMIZATION

Optimized pathfinding boxes, which should offer a small but decent performance boost. I THINK. There’s a big, I think there. Don’t kick a man while he’s down.

PATHFINDING

-101st Ohio had its pathfinding links updated and will meanover across the bridge or creek.

-10th Wisconsin now has three pathfinding links to choose from and are more spaced out when crossing the hill.

-17th Tennessee will cross the bridge to reach the battlefield.

LEVEL DESIGN

-45th Alabama’s defilade was adjusted

-The area surrounding 10th Wisconsin had some of its trees replaced with different ones.

-The hill behind 105th Ohio had its texture updated.

Additional notes regarding the effective range mutator.

The new recommended settings have been posted on the maps screenshots, it’s a minor adjustment. But for those of you who long for something more challenging, I would suggest tweaking things.

Sometimes increasing the max/min distance by values of one can change the tide of victory to the side you’d prefer. Mess around with it to your heart's content!

At ease soldiers, I hope to see you on the field of battle!

ANOTHER PATCH
https://media.tenor.com/nm8zaQHo1SMAAAAM/benito-mussolini.gif

-105th Ohio had its capture zone reconfigured.

-27th Tennessee had its terrain adjusted and its spawn has been reverted to its previous position

-10th Wisconsin had its pathfinding link placed back to where it originally was.

-10th Wisconsin had its spawn point adjusted.

-45th Alabama no longer has two spawn points.

-Swapped two grass textures

-45th Alabama had its capture zone reconfigured.

-Fixed an issue which was causing 17th Tennessee and 10th Wisconsin to kinda gravitate towards 45th Alabama.

The next update will likely be on the 10th of may. Because steelraven7 really kicked the crap outta me, and I could really use a break. If some sort of issue arises I'll be back sooner. At ease soldiers, Thank you for 300 subscribers!

Update: 26 Apr, 2024 @ 2:51pm

Small Update

-I’ve noticed that anti air is no longer usable for the howitzer. All anti air emplacements have been replaced with anti tank to remedy this.

-Adjusted the background terrain behind confederate lines.

-added pathfinding links to help 45th Alabama navigate the bridges at Perryville.

-Final spawn adjustments, I think. Probably not. What I’m turning to achieve is a slow victory. It’s just a bit difficult due to the changes that happened on the 18th, bare with me here. Have I mentioned you are very handsome? Whatever you are doing with your hair, keep it up.

Update: 24 Apr, 2024 @ 3:40pm

Patch

-This is a small patch which adjusts the firing line at 10th Wisconsin and its flag position has been reversed to its previous position.

-45th Alabama has an additional spawn point.

-105th Ohio has two spawns again.

-101st Ohio will spawn at the creek and navigation of the road has been improved.

Update: 22 Apr, 2024 @ 1:44pm

Patch
This patch rebalances a few spawns and capture point values.

Update: 21 Apr, 2024 @ 10:48am

Update

LEVEL DESIGN

-Removed a few trees near 45th Alabama

-Updated grass textures

-Updated terrain behind 105th Ohio

-Reworked foliage at 101st Ohio

-Added additional walking trails which connect to 45th Alabama and 27th Tennessee

REGIMENTS

-105th Ohio will spawn further back

-105th Ohio had its capture range tweaked

-10th Wisconsin had one path finding link adjustment

-17th Tennessee had its pine trees replaced with birch trees

-Adjusted spawns at 45th Alabama

ARTILLERY

-Artillery can be enabled at 17th Tennessee and 10th Wisconsin. However these positions are not entirely balanced yet.

KNOWN ISSUES
Point matches end much more quickly, and typically with one victor. This is due to a beta branch update on april 18th which forced me to accommodate spawn points and flag capture ranges and even pathfinding links due to new bot behaviors. There will be further balance improvements moving forward.

For those wondering what the change in bot behavior was, this is the culprit. A small change yes, but quite detrimental for rifled muskets.

Acknowledgement

Greetings soldiers, The shock of the collar has been felt. At this point I believe the best option to proceed with Perryville is to revert to its previous version which was uploaded on March 23. This will happen because of the following reasons listed below

Balance issues - Confederates seem to be struggling.

Navigation - It is possible that some parts of the terrain were smoothed causing issues with navigation boxes, altering the way troops move around.

Performance - The map seems to occasionally drop below 30 FPS, at least on my end that seems to be the case. It is possible that the new meta data update has had some sort of impact on the editor, however I'm not entirely sure.

MOVING FORWARD
Each time a new update is uploaded, copies are made of the previous version so work can resume in the likely event that something goes wrong.

I will be working on the older version, and I’m hopeful that the metadata uploaded in this version doesn’t cause any issues. If you notice anything different, please do let me know. While I can’t eliminate metadata entirely, I can do a manual revert from the steam workshop to see if it makes any difference. But first I would like to see if metadata is the to blame so it’s going to be kept in this version, or if I’ve just been a naughty developer

It's important to me that I see Perryville and its troops prevail. Sadly Perryville is being drowned in views. So far Perryville has had 525 recruits, 301 are still fighting on the field. If you would like to see Perryville strive for success, consider giving it a rating so others can see its potential.

At ease soldiers, I wish you good luck on the battlefield.
